that's interesting. Beane should have received a salary discount for this. But although disappointing to say the least.    They can be fresh for the last 11 games and excepted playoff push when they will be most needed.

Well they do as the players don't get paid for those weeks.  so if his salary was $1.7 mil, you'd take $600k off the top.  Don't know if signing bonuses are somehow pro-rated into that, probably not??

I'm wondering about the cap ramifications.  If Hoecht has a $3m base salary for '25, presumably we get $1m+ cap relief (6/17 of that for which he's out).

Ogunjobi seems to be $8.3m (w/ $8m guaranteed) w/ no bonus for just '25, so that presumably saves us almost $3m in cap savings.  Yes?

I think (and someone will surely correct me if I'm wrong here) but he doesn't get paid for those 6 weeks which would mean that money. would go back onto our cap. Basically works as a prorated contract.

My guess is it becomes a credit for the 2026 cap.  A player could get suspended in November so can't factor it in this year.  At end of year bonuses that weren't  initially added into 2025 cap get added into 2026, this likely will count as a reduction against the total.

And yes doesn't get paid when suspended.

I think it depends on if the player hid it from the team.   If so, it's concealing a material fact to induce the other party to enter a contract, so it's likely voidable.

Way to pick ‘em, Beane.  Not one but TWO druggies in our FA selections.

🤦‍♂️

Everybody on this board says that we're not going to win with a bunch of choir boys.

That was an early thought for me as well, but I don’t know how it works for sure.

Knowing about one but not the other is what's odd. Like I can see thinking with Hoecht it's a 3 year deal and you need guys healthy for the playoffs 6 games is a big chunk of the season but the Bills are deep along the D-line they can survive it esp if they bring in a couple of bodies there during the draft. Larry O doesn't make sense but if this keeps him healthier for later in the season could be a blessing in disguise.

WTF ?

Is it April 1?

No, that’s when they are going to tell you the penalty was forgiven due to an error at the lab tainting results which didn’t stand up under appeal.

And THAT will be April 1.

Beane talked about reconciliation at the end of the year but no details.
