I assume Jordan Phillips will be back for the first 6 games at least. That’s not horrible, he actually played well in the playoffs. But I’ll maintain that this happening will force their hand to do a trade or draft  for a DL talent and I don’t hate that. Like Beane can’t say oh I added these two guys so DL isn’t a need. He always tries to fill holes before the draft so they can go BPA but as of now that’s not the case on the DL bc of the suspensions.

Fair point, but I don't know if it's possible to screw up this year. It's one of the deepest dline classes I've seen in a long time

But I understand your concern

Also I see it as he is going to get more swings in the draft and that’s what everyone says about the teams that can’t get it right at QB - keep swinging and drafting and signing and eventually it will happen.  For Beane this is the DL.

So ride Phillips hard the first 6 games and hope he holds up, then cut him.   I think from Beanes presser he wanted to go CB with the first pick, and if I'm him I don't change a damn thing.

A silver lining is now instead of teams knowing that's how he will go, it makes them wonder.

Excellent point. Beane will be forced to draft dlineman early and often in an extremely rich dline class

I'm praying they take 4-5 dlineman honestly

Jordan Phillips from Maryland has a wrestling background. Bills will probably draft him rd 4-5

There's going to be two Jordan Phillips at DT lol

I'm seeing quite a few posters dismiss these 2 guys as nothing more than "rotational players" that ultimately won't make much of a difference anyway. Were those same posters downplaying these players in their draft day threads? Because I read those threads and that's certainly not the takeaway I got.

Aas long as they take the big DT from Texas, then cool.

How is this not in the contract as a void of contract?

It is.

They gain 1/3 of the cap space from the contracts and both contracts are not guaranteed.

Beane still wanted the talent in his back pocket and said we're going heavy on the dline anyway in the draft so it's not a big deal

I love Alfred Collins. The other DT Broughton looks athletic as heck too

I would hope in the case of Ogunobi, Beane renegotiated so as to reflect him not being able to play in the first six games of the season.

Will Phillips sign up for that, though?  Not sure how appealing the idea of going through training camp and all that just to play for 6 weeks is going to be to a 32 year old who has been spending the offseason touring retirement properties on beaches.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Well, you could … if you were writing a comedy …

… of errors.

Holy effin crap, Beane.

I’m guessing that players don’t get paid when they are suspended?

They don’t get their salary or per game roster bonuses, but it does not impact their signing bonus.

I would ask the league to void Ogunjobi's contract.    It should have been very well known that this was coming.

They could have voided it but chose not to. The reason Beane gave was the DT market didn’t have much left so O-gun minus 6 games was a better option than anyone else left.

that's interesting. Beane should have received a salary discount for this. But although disappointing to say the least.    They can be fresh for the last 11 games and excepted playoff push when they will be most needed.

These guys won't get paid on suspension, so, 6 game checks each revert to the Bills I would think.  So, built in  slalary discount.  They cn do camp, then will have to sit out and stay away for 4 games.  Can practice for two weeks before week 7 I think.
