We should be exploring it In today's DT Market - probably not. Everyone needs them and guys like Ogunjobi are getting 8 up to 10 for a single year. The DT Market was insane. If there were decent DT's available for 5th Round picks, those deals would be being made and DT's wouldn't be as expensive as they were this year. There isn't enough good ones league wide that teams have them to spare for 5th Round Picks. Edited March 14 by BillsFanForever19 Quote

BigAl2526 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Presumably, the Bills can put both players on some sort of reserve list so they don't need to be carried on the 53 man roster. Ogunjobi is the more concerning suspension. He's out for 6 games, so he'll be available for only 11 regular season games on a one year deal. That's hardly worth it. Hoecht signed a 3 year deal, so a 6 game suspension is only a little more than 10% of the length of his deal. Do the suspensions mean the Bills don't need to pay them for games missed due to suspension? If so the probably don't have to eat the cap hit either. I don't feel sorry for the players. They know the rules and broke them deliberately. I figured the Bills would be drafting players at both positions anyway, but with both guys out, the Bills could be forced to play some players who might not otherwise even make the team. 1 Quote
Man with No Name Posted March 14 Posted March 14 A lot of people really like HOecht. Maybe that contract is a discount. Quote

That’s a big character flaw if he pulled that BS. If Beane knew and took 2 guys under these circumstances he’s a jack@$$! Our D line is an issue & now we’re in the hole for 6 games to start the season. Something stinks here! Guessing he didn’t disclose because he wasn’t aware. If he was that’s a different story. Quote

Do these guys not run a background check before they spend MILLIONS of dollars on these guys? You have no idea how embarrassing this is. This is not normal. The whole league is laughing at us right now. I really think people should go out and touch grass and have a beer. It's a weird, kind of embarrassing, and definitely less than ideal situation. I agree with you. Beane seemed embarrassed in his presser. I also think it'll be forgotten about by Monday. The idea that the whole league is laughing at us or that it's this giant black eye that warrants firing Brandon Beane...it's just prisoner of the moment stuff, in my opinion. It sucks, its ugly, and no one's happy about it. I just think people are making it even bigger than THAT and acting like its some epic referendum on Brandon Beane and like...okay...sure. If that's how you feel, then that's your prerogative. Just as it's my prerogative to think that's silly. 1 1 1 Quote
balln Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Starting to wreak of desperation at Mcbeane HQ. Trying so hard to get to and win the Super Bowl. Taking chances. The Kaiir Elam miss really hurt this franchise at this exact point. first 3 picks last year didn’t really do anything for us in crunch time…. Josh wins mvp. seats are getting warmer (although Terry is oblivious) 1 Quote
Johnnycage46 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 I'm about 99% serious/1% joking, but I feel like if it was KC or some other face-of-the-league team there would be no suspensions. 2 Quote

I'm thinking like 5% tops. He KNEW about Hoecht, and signed him anyway. Question his judgement in signing the guy if you want, but it wasn't a matter of "not doing homework". Ogunjobi's result came back during/after the signing process, he informed Beane immediately, and Beane went forward with the signing because, among other reasons, he said the free agent pool had become depleted at the position. So here again, question Beane's judgement in going forward with the signing if you want, but this one ALSO wasn't a matter of "not doing homework". That's what Larry said, and Beane is taking him at his word, but we don't know if that's true. In fact, a good agent would tell him to wait till the last second, let them know you just got it. He didn't have to say anything, but that would have been a horrible look. So the letter "just" came after all the first wave of free agent frenzy was finished. I could see the truth being he knew earlier, and prob around the same time as Hoecht, who found out I believe he said a few weeks after the season... Sure maybe he just found out yesterday, but when it comes to money I could also see them knowing for a bit longer and playing the game 3 minutes ago, QLBillsFan said: Guessing he didn’t disclose because he wasn’t aware. He certainly could have and played it this way, Millions on the line I also have to question how the hell the NFL doesn't make it a point to have free agent potential suspensions known prior to the start. That's also hush league Edited March 14 by TBBills Fan 1 Quote

I appreciate your kindness and good attitude but once again, Beane has flubbed the dub in many other areas as well. To me my anger has been accumulating over time. It’s not just one said thing. It’s trading Wyatt Teller for a 5th round pick. It’s signing Von Miller to a $100M contract, it’s taking Kaiir Elam in RD1. We can go on and on and on.. 4 3 Quote
