Imo Buffalo keeps loading DT and Edge- and we follow Philly model.  Bring heavy interior pressure and CBs matter little

My take is that Dane was here the Elam year, so how is this any different? Tre was here as an established starter and we had Dane. Now we have Benford as an established starter...and Dane.

Reading that Buffalo drafted him in 2020 sounds crazy to me. I feel like Dane has been here since the Super Bowl era Bills.

Would have preferred them to bring Gilmore back to be honest. I guess Jackson is six years younger but for what he brings... in fairness, the CB options in free agency were limited.

He will use his first pick on the glaring hole on his roster. He has done it every year. He drafts for need.

Wonder what the final offer was to Douglas at this point. There was an offer. If I'm Douglas I wait until camps begin and an injury pops up.

 

It wouldn't surprise me if there was an offer. I know for a fact there were conversations this time last year before the contract adjustment and the Bills and his reps were miles apart.

I would respectfully disagree.

He did "fine".  But we know who he is.

 

If somehow he starts,  Or he has to play because of injury which is very probable at some point, We are getting a mediocre player inserted in the lineup 

I would rather someone with some upside/traits personally. (Not Elam though lol)

Tre was hurt wasn't he? He didn't end up playing until week 8 or week 9? So I do think it's a bit different. But I also do think corner is the most likely pick at #30.

Yes there is a major hole heading into the draft.  It's called a starting CB.  Let me repeat, Dane Jackson is not a starting CB.

There's enough DB's that can start for us that will be available by our 3rd overall pick.  Also, I would argue that Elam aside, they do a great job of finding DB's that can play.  I'm not even remotely worried about when they take a DB.

While it made sense to trade Elam, I am not a fan of re-signing Jackson and it is disappointing that we have no real upgrades to our secondary at this point of free agency (safeties and CBs).  I don't think the draft can be counted on to improve our situation (Elam as an example).

 

I recall Jackson being targeted often when he was with the Bills and we don't have the kind of safeties that will be able to help mask his play.

8 picks in the first 5 rounds, and we definitely don't have 8 open roster spots. I agree, I think it's much more likely we trade up this year.

Dane was absolutely horrendous in the Carolina defense. I think he fits better here if we're running a lot of zone. If we plan on going to a more man coverage based scheme, then he is a rotational 4th or 5th man off the bench type of player. No matter which scheme we run, I hope he isn't forced into a lot of reps. And I also hope McDermott doesn't put him in with the starters just for seniority's sake.
