Why?

He’s legitimately better than Elam and probably cheap.

If you are disappointed with this move, you are just looking for reasons to be disappointed.

Dane is a wonderful depth player, but he isn’t a good enough starter on a team with Super Bowl aspirations.  Douglas got picked on consistently last season and I don’t see Jackson as an upgrade on Douglas.  This team still needs a real starter at CB.  Asking a rookie draft pick to fill that role would compound the mistake.

I am a Beane fan overall, but if the plan is to give Dane a chance to start, Beane has made a mistake.

I know free agency is not over and another move could come. But this is 2022 all over again. They will talk about Dane as a solid vet starter blah blah and the entire league is going to know we are picking a corner and that's annoying if it happens again.

Dane is fine as depth. He is not a starter. As long as they don't back themselves in a corner again, this is fine.

He was cut no? So doesnt count for comp picks?

Nope only Hoecht and Palmer qualify so far unfortunately we’ve only lost Hollins that qualifies so no comp picks as of now

Beane doesn't need to pick a CB with #30.  He has 3 picks to find one in the first 2 rounds.

I think this is more a depth signing and I still expect to draft one to compete to start at the very least, likely first 4 rounds and good chance first 2 rounds given we have no 3rd.

I don’t think this precludes the Bills plan at all and I still expect two rookie CBs in the draft. One with the 3 early picks and one in the 4th or 5th

we’ll draft one early and one late. Also, don’t be surprised if we sign another UFA cb and don’t be surprised if Von is resigned

I LOVE IT!

Granted, he's no superstar....but is as good as you could get for the money (which I assume will be $3-4 million tops).

No major holes going into the draft. You couldn't ask for much more than that.

There is your vet CB signing. Still have to get one in the draft.

I think we could see another vet to at least compete for the CB#2 spot as to me Jackson an ideal replacement for Elam.

I don’t think the plan is for Dane to start. The plan is for Dane to be injury insurance. He is better than Elam if our starting CB1 with concussion history gets another one. That’s an upgrade.
