Cook and Milano are quiet too, but the passion in their play speaks a lot more volumes than what I saw from Cooper. Maybe he was more injured than we all knew, but even McD seemed to downplay him as an addition to the team when the trade first happened. Yes, Cooper is a quiet guy but didn't you see him suit up for the KC game with the cast? He made that key catch one handed catch with the broken wrist - had to have felt that. It made KC change their coverage. It's possible that McD downplayed A Coopers arrival out of respect to the players already on the team. I imagine it doesn't go over well in the locker room when you say "thank god we got Cooper our WR room was one of the most pathetic in the league". 3 Quote

SirAndrew Posted March 14 Posted March 14 I think Copper is aging, slow, and not what he used to be, but I’m one of the few who thinks Brady can’t scheme a downfield NFL passing game. I don’t think we know how to use that type of player. 1 minute ago, Low Positive said: He had 1,250 yards with 5TDs with the Browns in 2023. That would be one heck of a fall-off. See above. I think you have a valid point. 1 Quote
Alphadawg7 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 (edited) Amari - Has an entire history of a handful of big games and a bunch of mediocre to non existent games. The number of games in his career that he had under 40 yards is astounding for a player of his level. For me, there is now, and always has been, just another gear missing from him. His talent is there, but I just don't know he has that edge, that fire, to really maximize those talents all the time. And this is also why I think he drops so many passes, the mental focus, the mental tenacity just isn't there and I think the Bills saw that first hand last year. Don't get me wrong, its great when a player plays unselfish, buys into the system, etc...but you still want that player to WANT it. Shakir is a prime example...this guy is all about team and fully bought into everything here...but man, he WANTS it on every play. Doesn't matter if the ball is going to him or not, he wants the smoke in blocking, still getting open in case Josh needs to come off his reads, etc. Cooper to me just doesn't have that gear. And while he can get going at any time, its the lack of going so often that always concerns me with him. I said the same thing when the Cowboys gave him a huge contract (think it was $20M and highest WR contract at the time if not mistaken) a while back. It was just too much money for a guy who just so inconsistent week to week. He is consistent in his season totals because he is a guy that can put up some big games when he gets going. But week to week, that just doesn't happen enough IMHO and why I have never felt he was a top 10 WR. I wouldn't be mad if we brought him back, again, but he did so little here that the offense isn't going to miss him. So I would prefer to go get someone in the draft who has more long term upside and maybe brings more speed and explosiveness down field. Edited March 14 by Alphadawg7 1 Quote
Turbo44 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Cooper was playing with either a broken wrist or torn ligaments in hi wrist. He was also misused by Brady 4 1 Quote

At least unless he finds very little market indeed. seems unlikely, however, the longer he goes unsigned the more likely i could see him back here. I dont believe were uninterested, and vice versa him with us... he wants to check his value, and knowing Beane he said something along the lines of, we dont want to insult you with what were looking to spend, we enjoyed you here... go chase that bag, and if you dont find the right opportunity you have an open door here. The thing about Cooper is he still has skills, and contested catches, but doesn’t have the breakaway speed to make it happen. We on the other hand need his skills, but on a young 4.3 second 40 speed guy, and that’s not happening. The draft is the only answer. We now with the two comp picks is 10 so we can do it, after we get a DT. 1 Quote

Virgil Posted March 14 Posted March 14 There's a reason he's still available and other WR's have already signed 1 Quote
mannc Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Cooper still has something left in the tank but I think the Palmer signing takes him off the table for the Bills…WR5 is going to be a draft pick or a low-priced FA who plays special teams. Quote

He added a talented WR hoping he would help us with the SB. Had we won we would be saying it was the best spent 3rd ever Oh definitely. But it's a fail at roster building if you need to trade in season for a player at a position unless you have a cluster of injuries at that position. 1 Quote

RyanC883 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 I'd take him back on two conditions: (1) not a big contract and/or an incentive laden one; and (2) his return does not stop us from drafting a WR. We still need that vertical threat. 1 Quote

Bad analogy. Fat Kelvin's "get up and go" had got up and went during his time here. I see no evidence that Cooper didn't try hard. We didn't get production out of him, but it's not because he was phoning it in the way Benjamin did. Quote
NewEra Posted March 15 Posted March 15 I’d love to add him- I don’t think there’s enough money or enough interest from Beane. Quote
Kelly to Allen Posted March 15 Posted March 15 I don't mind him coming back as a veteran backup. Quote
