Was hoping he would be resigned, alas it seems not.....

the way he finished the season his stock is down at the moment.

I feel like he was never really healthy in his time here. He made some timely plays, especially against KC. That TD catch against the Jets was nice as well. I expected more, but I'm not sure what the root cause was. I'd take him back on a lower-end deal if he wanted to be here.

I didn't get the feeling that he was a great fit for this team. Nice guy, decent player, but I never got the sense the chemistry was there with Josh and the rest of the offense. More serious personality than the Mr. Brightside bunch that Josh seems more comfortable hanging with.

I personally would like him back and I still would like a WR drafted.

While we have been looking for complimentary pieces for this particular offensive scheme, I think we still need to stockpile for when that isn't the case.

On avg we switch coordinators every other year and I don't think Brady will be here beyond next season if he fields another top 3 offense (which is highly likely).

Let's maximize everything we can now and have something worthwhile for the next coordinator to utilize when they implement their offense.

I think the answer is in your question.

That wrist injury was probably worse then they were letting on and because of it he just couldn't rack up enough live reps to get acclimated to the way Josh plays.

I don't know if I want him back because I don't know what went wrong.  Did he get old?  Was he hurt?  Did Brady know how to use him?  Was there something off with the Allen-Coop chemistry?  Was it something else?

He's a good guy who was once a force in this league but without understanding why he was unproductive with the Bills, I don't have an opinion on whether or not we should bring him back.

The need is for speed.  Here's a better question; would you trade James Cook for Marvin Mimms straight up?  I think I would.

The real question is would you trade Mario for Skelton

Blah, blah, blah. And Stephon Gilmore didn’t smile enough to be here. Where do people get this stuff?

I get that Cooper is a quiet guy, just question how much passion he really has for the game.  Cook and Milano are quiet too, but the passion in their play speaks a lot more volumes than what I saw from Cooper.  Maybe he was more injured than we all knew, but even McD seemed to downplay him as an addition to the team when the trade first happened.

Totally would take him back. We didn’t see the best version of him.

I'm not sure any team has.

We wasted a 3rd round pick on him because of Beane refusing to seriously address the WR situation the previous three off-seasons.  He seems to have lost a step last year.

Seriously. I was happy we got him last year just to help Josh and with our window open.

But Beane should have easily foreseen this situation last offseason and not been in the position to blow a 3rd for a rental player. And that's even with Mack outperforming his normal production.

I'm not sure Palmer is the answer either, especially with Mack gone. But I also don't think Amari would do that much more. He seemed to have lost a step.

I'd rather see the Bills add a WR playmaker early in the draft, after they've addressed DL/CB needs

I feel like trading for Cooper and our offense really hitting its stride was no coincidence.

Rolling out Shakir, Cooper, Palmer, Samuel, Coleman, and rookie/Shavers, would be pretty solid.

My sense is he remains unsigned in part because all the uncertainty around him means his market is more limited than most might think.

All that is to say I hope this gets done.

For the crowd that doesn’t want to stunt Coleman’s growth, a worthwhile year two second round pick should be able to steal snaps from Cooper, Palmer, and Samuel, plus he can continue to learn from Cooper, and regardless, everybody eats.

I wouldn't mind at all if the Bills re-signed Cooper.  That said, I can think of a couple reasons why that might be difficult.  Cooper had a disappointing year, production wise, which makes it likely Buffalo is unwilling to offer him as much money as he would like.  Moreover, Cooper wasn't utilized as much as he could have been, and Cooper would probably prefer to go where he has an assurance that he would be targeted more frequently.  His agent is probably looking hard for offers.  If he doesn't find what he wants elsewhere, there's a chance Cooper could end up back in Buffalo, but I think it will take a while for that to play out.

It's kind of weird that there is almost zero discussion about him returning. On this message board, anyway.

I think we have a younger version of Cooper on the roster in Josh Palmer.

No, I'm not saying Josh Palmer is elite. However, he has a very similar skill set to Cooper, as a route technician who isn't particularly fast.

Coleman and Palmer are the boundary WRs, with Shakir working in the slot alongside Kincaid/Knox. Curtis Samuel works in occasionally as well.

What is that WR group missing? Pure speed and explosiveness.

Signing Cooper doesn't give us that. Perhaps a rookie WR can.

This is an interesting place sometimes. We are not impressed by Amari Cooper's career and ability...or Dante Fowler's 55 career sacks...but that one play often healthy scratch Dewayne Carter made against one of the worst teams in the league that one time makes him an impact performer. It's interesting.

If Cooper wants one last payday, it will not happen here unless he agrees to an extremely team-friendly deal, as he has grown tired of playing for crap teams.
