Hopkins looked washed in the SB

I'm not sure it's that. If you look league-wide, WRs didn't have much production after mid-season trades. Maybe they need an offseason to get on the same page as the QB and learn the playbook.

Yeah. He had to do something. Cooper played his role well and Josh won MVP. How could Beane do him dirty like that?

The far bigger waste of a WR trade last year was Davante Adams. He cost the Jets a second and they won 3 games after he arrived

The jets were/are a dumpster fire, it was a dumb trade, but it’s not like Adams was bad.

Don’t understand the hate for Amari. Yeah the numbers were not great but our O with 8 EIGHT turnovers in 20 games, a running game, and all time efficiency deflated everyone’s numbers. We absolutely lose to the chiefs in the regular season and finish third in the afc at best last year without him. We look like we did against Houston in a few more games before Amari opened up the middle of the field.

I thought given more time with Josh that he could be a great asset to the team and I would love to see him come back, but at this point it doesn't look as if he will be .

Unless Beane is playing poker and not showing all of his cards until after the draft, then if no one has given any indication that they want Coop Beane might work his magic and smooth talk him into a team friendly deal with some incentives ...

He was advised that he should have surgery on his wrist right?  But he said he wanted to play through it

I have heard that, but it doesn’t explain away his in ability to contribute in Cleveland or Buffalo virtually at all.  He still played, still caught the ball when targeted, but he just didn’t separate at all.  He looks to have lost a step, everyone thought he was going to be better with Allen and he did have one game where he looked good, but that’s just on par with his career.  He has big games and disappears in all too many.   I think it’s pretty clear the rest of the league sees it too, or he would have a deal.

We don't know if Cooper has still has it, because of arriving here in the middle of the season and then a pretty significant injury. Had his best year just two years ago in Cleveland, and watching him then I  thought he would be a perfect fit in our offense. Smooth, great route runner, reliable, like having another Shakir, just a little further down the field--a great combination.

I assume the Bills would know if he is still a viable starting level NFL receiver.  We as fans simply cannot tell based on the circumstances last year.

If he is, he would be a great addition to this team, as they only have Shakir, Coleman (who no one can yet be sure about yet), Samuel, and Shepherd.  So they definitely need 1-2 starting level players still.

Hopefully the demand for Cooper remains as soft as it has been, and the Bills can get a very discounted price--if they think he is still a viable starter.

Seems there is only a small chance it happens.

Amari was a good vet that helped out. Maybe not to the degree that was expected. But it did open things up for others which is what LAST YEARS team needed.

This years team needs, IMO, a bit of speed. If we are going to reel in an older vet (which I'm not convinced they will), I'd maybe kick the tires on Brandin Cooks to add some field stretching abilities rather than Cooper.

He doesn't play special teams and looks like he is maybe 50% of what he was in his prime.  Why bother?

Kinda' how I feel.  If they don't sign him, so be it.  Seems like the Bills are filling in the WR room with experienced guys who may or may not hit.  Maybe they draft another WR or maybe they finally give a guy like Tyrell Shavers a real shot to make the 53?

I'd be open to it

although I'd rather draft speed / make an unexpected trade for someone

I originally was hoping for an upgrade to A Cooper.  Now I don't see it (DK is out, C Kupp is a long shot, Diontae Johnson is a head case).

Bringing back A Cooper would make '25 WR room > '24 WR room.   A Coop '25 > A Coop '24 ( both time with team and his wrist was hurt in '24), J Palmer > Hollins, Coleman '25 > Coleman '24.

It could be that Beane has a figure given to A Coop and is letting him test the waters to beat it.  If A Coop beats his offer, the Bills get a comp pick, if no one beats it the Bills get A Coop back at the reasonable figure Beane had in mind.

I like Amari, the person and teammate.  But Amari the WR?  He's kind of like Kelvin Benjamin without the extra biscuits.

Not even close, minus the extra biscuits part

He is honestly the #1 Outside WR left in Free Agency. It's him or Stefon Diggs (and that ain't happening) and then a pretty large dropoff.

I think it boils down to whether we're keeping 6 or we're keeping 5 like we did the last couple seasons. Also where they're planning to take a WR.

If we're keeping 6 and they don't think they're going WR in the first couple rounds - I'd be open to it. The wrist injury he sustained was recommended to have surgery on it. I believe this is why he was used as sparingly as he was. He has experience with Josh and the locker room and if healthy, I think he'd be a much greater contributor.

But if we're keeping 5 and/or taking a WR in the first 2 Rounds - then no. But I do believe if we aren't bringing Cooper back, then we definitely should Draft a WR in the first couple Rounds. An Outside guy with Speed. As I feel like Cooper and Hollins going out with Palmer and a Day 3 pick as replacements isn't enough juice.

They've kept 5 the last few years so doubtful they go to 6.  Add to that we have two good pass catching TE's when healthy and believe we led the league in times with 6 OL on field.  Think if Kincaid had been healthy would have seen more 2 TE's sets last year.   Plus they signed this guy yesterday not even going to try and spell his name who likely was signed more as a returner, but can also play WR.  Think he may provide more as a WR than Coddington provides as CB so think he could stick on 53.  Maybe Coddington will also stick if improves his coverage skills some as a backup CB.

I think they draft a WR mid round to take Samuels place next year.  The Bills were one of the top 10 offenses in the league last year, Palmer does fill one need they had at WR to better stretch the field.  When you have a QB like Allen, you don't need all pro WR's on the team.  There are always vets cut in September, if someone were to get hurt, could sign someone at that point.  But without an injury, don't see a roster spot for anyone else but a draft pick

That story has no author listed, so it is most likely AI written. Here are two paragraphs about Cooper to the Chiefs that ChatGPT just wrote after two prompts:

Quote

n the 2025 NFL free agency, the Kansas City Chiefs are rumored to be exploring the possibility of signing veteran wide receiver Amari Cooper. With the Chiefs' offensive strategy revolving heavily around quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his ability to make plays downfield, adding a seasoned and reliable receiver like Cooper could provide a much-needed boost to their receiving corps. Cooper, known for his sharp route running and ability to create separation, would be a perfect complement to Kansas City's already dynamic offense, giving Mahomes another weapon to target alongside Travis Kelce and the other receivers on the roster.

A potential signing of Cooper would also address the Chiefs' long-term goals of keeping their offense versatile and competitive in the ever-evolving AFC West. Despite Cooper's age, he has continued to produce at a high level, demonstrating his ability to be a key contributor on both short and deep routes. His leadership and experience would bring an added layer of depth to the Chiefs' wide receiver room, while his presence could provide stability as the team looks to maintain its championship-caliber offense. If the Chiefs are able to land Cooper in free agency, it could be a game-changing move that further solidifies their position as perennial Super Bowl contenders.
