Laviska Shenault to the Bills

Trying to understand the why behind this signing? Was it really a necessary signing two days into free agency? Seems like this is someone that could have been picked up after the draft. Not to turn this into a Hamlin thread but between this signing and Hamlin, I don’t understand why we needed to do either deal at this time. Save the money for later if needed.

It’s like Beane is trying to replicate one of my last place fantasy teams. Samuel, Shenault. Who’s next? Darren Sproles!?

Honestly I feel like Shenault is better suited for the role we tried to put Samuel in last year. Built like Sammy Watkins, ran like Deebo @ Colorado, if he was to surprise and make the team, I can see him getting some of those direct snaps, screens, and quick in cuts. Will also give Coddinton some competition and injury insurance, although I thought he was great in that role last season. Low risk, high reward potential.

Honestly it's all about competition. Obviously this guy is coming here to compete for a role on this team. Does he make it, probably not but every year we see Beane bringing in guys to push players to earn there spot. I feel this is nothing more then that. Samuel had a rough year so this is probably there way of saying earn you're spot.

He is a great reminder that being a mid-major college football star does not guarantee success.

 

I live in Colorado. Fun to watch in college. I forgot he was still in the league until today.

That's why he's a camp body. Not everyone signed right now is going to be an impact starter or even guaranteed a roster spot. And Shenault is one of those that are far more unlikely to make the roster than someone who would. It's not like he prevents us from signing anyone else or that we chose to bring in Shenault over a Superstar. We have to bring 90 bodies to camp and Shenault is just one of those guys.

He won’t count against the top 51 contracts

Having to account for him on the flex motion bubble screens will open up Palmer and Coleman to get open over top .. eye candy that can hurt guy has great balance to get extra yards no need for him to be a complete receiver just let him be what he is .. Joe knows what he is

I like him.  Feel like he hasn't gotten a great shot at wr.  Hard nosed, hard running guy who at worst is just a returner but can also contribute on offense as a gadget guy.  With a real qb maybe can develop more.

True story: When my sister and I were kids, we were allowed to pick out one PG or G VHS at the Blockbuster every other week or so. We made it our goal to pick out the movies with the most ridiculous covers possible. One week I picked The Jerk, knowing absolutely nothing about the film. 

 

It ended up being one of our random picks, ever.

Agree, why can't we sign guys named Smith or Jones, or Adams, something easy to spell.  It's taken me 3 years to figure out how to spell Shakir!  Not this guy and the DT we signed, forget it!
