I didn't even know his name, two years as an assistant GM in DEN? sincerely asking, what's to like about him? Pretty green track record Wouldn't you have said the same about Brandon Beane 7 seasons ago? He had no prior GM experience. 1 Quote

Not quite true he did have a run as interim in-season in Carolina between Hurney (first time) and Gettleman. But your point stands. Every GM is a first time GM at some point. 1 Quote
biggerdaddynj Posted March 13 Posted March 13 (edited) I was bummed out when they got him, thought he’d be the anchor and QB of a solid defense for a long time. Like I wanted Patrick Willis to be for us.😞 (Marshawn ended up being a nice consolation prize while he lasted here!) Edited March 13 by biggerdaddynj Quote
Orlando Buffalo Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Every time we played the Jets my first look was whether he was injured because he caused us issues when healthy. Thankfully he was injured often or we might have a few less wins. 2 Quote
Saint Doug Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Sign him. Between him and Bosa, we’ll have one heck of a player who can play a whole season. Quote
bigK14094 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Timing suggests he would not negotiate a lower contract. Wanted to try free agency. Good luck, hopefully out of AFC East. Quote

Which is why Im genuinely asking, what an Assistant GM of 2 years can do to make somebody outside a Front Office "like" a guy like that? I know its hard to tell on a forum, but 0 snark, 100% curiosity. Especially after a lot of us feeling like we "liked" Schoen, and then seeing him perform. We have no real body of work to judge with these guys realistically. How can a fan have any clue if they like an assistant-anything FO guy, whos only been with 1 team. Seems like the full analysis boils down to -is the head GM good? I know this reads snarky (especially on TBD), but I'm just trying to figure out the metrics behind something like that. Do we ever even hear those guys speak? If theres an angle I'm missing for analysis, Id love to be privy to it. I find Front Offices highly intriguing, and I think a ton of it is the shroud of mystery! Giants Hard Knocks was by far and away, lightyears cooler to me, than any other season!! 1 Quote
