It was actually written in chalk

Because corner especially in McDermott system, takes as much brain as physical talent

His processing never came to full speed

Nah/ his transitions were bad. Dude just can’t play nfl starting cornerback. It happens

You're letting Beane off the hook here.

Getting a 5th in return for a 1st round pick is no wizardry.

A 1st round pick that amounted to 12 starts over 3 years with 2 INTs and 6 pass break ups.

How much did we get for Maybin???  Oh right, we waived him.

I mean every single player has a lot of talent.. scheme fit and confidence have a lot to do with a corners abilities

You act like he goes in and gives up 200 yards against him.. he's had some good moments he's picked off Patrick mahomes

Corner is a position where repetition gains experience and he never got to playthrough all the trial and error.. we basically instantly replaced him with Benford from the same draft

He never got to develop while also not being the greatest scheme fit.. we were trying to put a square peg into a round hole from day one

Nobody's talking about him being a starter for a while.. but it's because he shot mentally not physically

It's hard to look at this as a great success just because we got a 5th round pick for him.

It seems too easily forgotten that before getting the 5th, we spent a 1st to get him.

Also sad & unfortunate is the fact that AFTER the Elam pick in 2022 was probably the best we have ever seen from Beane in rounds 2-6.

2    James Cook
3    Terrel Bernard
5    Khalil Shaki
6    Christian Benford

Remarkable.

And it probably would have been McDuffie if the Chiefs didn't jump in front of us to snag him, resulting in the panicked Elam selection.

ALWAYS THE CHIEFS FAULT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aside from QB, absolutely the hardest position the play at a quality or high level in the pros.

hope they hit another home run when they choose to go the CB route in this upcoming draft.

All the best to Elam, sucks it didn’t work out for him. Hopefully this kickstarts his career.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t even think he was tradeable. Getting anything is a manor W for the Bills. What a massive bust

What’s remarkable about most #1 busts is that even they tend to show flashes of potential, giving us hope that something might click. But with Elam, the instincts were off from day one—there hasn’t been a single moment or glimpse of promise. It’s rare for a #1 bust to not even tease us a little!

I can’t believe after 4 years of watching him people still defend him. He was awful here, he wasn’t that good his last year at Florida. He was taken on attributes and athleticism

Even Joe Marino wanted to bring him back next season !

Surely it’s in both parties interest to move on and get a fresh start ..i

While I respect Joe and his work, his opinion is just that and shouldn’t be taken as a given that Bills fans have to listen to at his every whim. I have said since he was drafted that Elam was gonna bust and there hasn’t been one moment that has even remotely made me question that opinion

Right you are.

There has to be a formula to these guys. It’s not size. It’s definitely speed. And burst. -Like always hitting the turbo button, just squirting all over the field until the ballcarrier is mauled.

I remember seeing one clip of Witherspoon, Seattle, when he was drafted, and thinking he’s a killer. It was very recognizable. He’s third best CB run stopper (PFF). definitely a draft blue chipper, but his weight could have been a problem. It’s not. Of the two bodies, Elam is better. Maybe Bills should target mauler CBs, and forget the Statue of David mold. Know who I love,, Cam Lewis is my man. I always want him on the roster. Dude’s inspiring. Maybe bring Cam in on how you evaluate corner..

This thing isn’t even close to played out. What if he’s good with Dallas?!?!

Didn’t work out with us, needed to be off the roster.  Should we have kept him scared he may blossom elsewhere?

I say good luck to him!
