You know this board will melt down when Elam gets an INT in Dallas.

I don't know. I have fond memories of him picking off Patrick Mahomes.

Just pretend we got Benford in the first and Elam in the 5th.  This whining is getting to me but BEANE SHOULD'VE MADE THE METCALF TRADE!!!

That's how I've been thinking about that draft for awhile. Doesn't really matter who was 1st or 5th as long as one of them turned out to be your guy (except for the whole 1st round 5th year option thing).

And 8 picks in the first 5 rounds. No way 8 rookies make the team. We have more ammo than we need to fill the remaining holes on the roster.

Hopefully they use some to get into the 3rd somehow.

Good.  Now bring back Dane Jackson, a higher end FA CB, and a CB in the top 3 rounds.

Buffalo now has 8 picks in the first 5 rounds.  Pretty awesome.

***** off. You can’t keep bringing back guys that have failed to help us get to where we want to be. Dude was a huge liability on 3rd down.

When you go from looking competent and unafraid as a rookie with upside to looking like a terrified train wreck 4 years later, that is not on just the player, imo.

Who knows. I recall a player, cant recall who, mentioning once "no one knows what he's going through" in reference to Elam. Maybe he's been dealing with a lot personally the last few years.

McDermott has always got the most out of DBs. Obviously that doesn't mean they couldn't have screwed this one up. But there's probably more going on with him then we know.

Regardless, hopefully a fresh start will help him get his career back on track.

This debacle is one of the few examples where I think our coaching staff absolutely screwed up a player's development.

In his last game he was an utterly scared, confused mess, which he wasn't as a rookie.

He was a worse player when he left here than he was when we drafted him.

I agree. Very much an anomaly though. Regardless of talent, we seem to do a good job of having draft picks become a better player than when they arrived.

To be fair, Elam bears responsibility for his crushed confidence as well.

Seems like a decent kid, I hope he finds his confidence and starts to grow

For a fifth and future seventh. I’m surprised we got that much honestly

It sounds like a lot, but i'd be interested to see where the 5th and 6ths are that were moved.

We have the 1st pick in the 6th Round. So if we moved that for one of Dallas' comps - it really is like nothing.

That's fair and could be true, but the difference between 2022 Elam and the mess that was tiptoeing around out there in 2025 was so stark that I can't absolve the staff for being a part of it.

I really don't know why we dont trade our 1st for 20 5th rounders.

I did the math.  It adds up!

You dont like it?

Fine make it 10 4th rounders.

Honestly a 5th, 7th and the cap space for a 6th is the most we were going to get for him.

But it tells me that Beane has a CB move coming

Pretty good salvage job by Beane imo.  For a day, I love Jerruh.

I would have given him away for free honestly. Getting rid of his cap space is a win on its own.

a 5 and 7 for a 6 and Elam is pretty close to it

5th and a future 7th is definitely higher than my expectation.

It's funny I think it might have been you (apologies if not) I was talking to last offseason about Kaiir and saying there are not a ton of teams where his skillset looks a good fit but Dallas who just ask their corners to attack rather than read and react might be one. Sort of makes sense. Although I am considerably more convinced it is about Elam not being good as much as not being a fit this spring than I was last. The compensation is a definite win for the Bills.

I don’t recall tbh but it does make sense from both perspectives.

Im fully expecting us to add something here shortly at CB now that he’s officially gone
