That’s only as a situational guy, with not really a lot else on the D-line. yet a lot of folks wanted to break the bank for Sweat, who played with three elite d-linemen and over the last few years had 8 sacks, 6.5 sacks, 11 Sacks, 7.5 sacks. Let’s keep AJE and draft two monster interior DL in this deep draft. I am willing to bet AJE will easily become a 8-11 sack guy too playing next to some really good interior guys. And one of those sacks last season nailed Rodgers for a safety. 2 Quote

The only d-lineman that ever made a play in this last stretch was Jordan Phillips of all people, with his sack of Mahomes in the AFCCG. That’s just the AFCCG. Can’t speak for AJE, but Groot had a sack against Denver and Baltimore. 1 Quote

I mean, he is what he is. Part of the problem is his draft status. With a 2nd round pick were hoping for a starting DE and instead got a rotational pass rusher. If you look at him in that context, he’s fine as depth but you might be able to find similar production in a backup DE for a little less than the $6M or so he’s currently on track to make. The other problem is that AJE is horrendous at setting at the edge. He’s gotten a little better but he gets toasted all the time by mobile QB’s - just watch Hurts burn him to win the game in OT back in 2023. 1 Quote

But Carter’s rookie season reminds me a lot of Kaiir Elam. I can certainty see the wrist injury affecting his play but he was really bad. So bad that they made him inactive down the stretch. While a 3rd round pick isn’t the same as a 1st, it’s still a coveted pick. The fact that Carter wasn’t on the field during the most important game of the season is a red flag for me. As for Solomon, I think he showed a lot more flashes than Carter. I don’t believe Solomon will be cut and think he has a better chance of contributing next season that Carter. My bad then. I misread your post and thought you were kicking them to the curb. I always give rookies the benefit of the doubt, especially when they play positions where the NFL game is so much more complicated than the college game, and that's certainly the case for DTs. Quote

They believe that's why Von wasn't restructured or a Post June 1 cut. Yeah that makes sense even if it is WGR. 😀 Quote
