DJB Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Love Hamlin the human but wanted someone new on the backend  Hopefully it’s backup money and he never sees the field 1 1 Quote

I wouldn't be mad, but after investing a 2nd in Bishop last year I think they're done, unless a guy they really like falls.  Looking like CB, DE, DT in draft 1 Quote
H2o Posted March 12 Posted March 12 As long as he's just for depth and not going to be a starter again. He was a liability most of the time in coverage. Quote
nucci Posted March 12 Posted March 12 he can still be cut. Doesn't mean he's made the final roster Quote

PauleeeWalnuts Posted March 12 Posted March 12 As long as it’s depth only, he can’t be their starting safety again. Just not good back there  1 Quote
Magox Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I don't believe they envision him as a starter.  I think they will look at the draft and hope to get someone who could eventually be in consideration to compete as a starter or if a really good safety is available early on to be a starter.  For now, I think they believe Rapp and Bishop are the two envisioned starting safeties that are on the roster.   1 Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I desperately wanted Holland. The reality is McBeane are not going to pay a lot for safeties in our scheme. They just want sound tacklers and guys who can keep the lid on.  I think the philosophy is spending more on the front 7, and then getting by in the secondary. 1 Quote
TFBillsfan Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Respect for everything he’s overcome but NOPE, NOPE, NOPE! Secondary needs more talent and he doesn’t move the needle. Quote
papazoid Posted March 12 Posted March 12 i dont like this  i'm good with everything else so far 1 Quote
MiltonWaddams Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Damar is a great guy to have on your team if he is a brake glass in case of emergency starter. This reiterates the need for Cole Bishop to have a strong off-season and step up next season. Quote
Steptide Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I don't mind it. Was decent last year, and my guess is bishop will take over his role. He's very good depth Quote
MrEpsYtown Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Ok so he is not good. He's not the worst player ever. If this is a vet minimum deal fine.  My problem with this is that McDermott tends to turn to old reliable mediocre players he trusts when things don't go well. Having Hamlin around is going to make him pull Bishop when he makes a mistake and that will be counterproductive to his development.  Rapp also has an injury history so you are one hit away from Damar Hamlin starting safety again.  I was hoping they brought in real safety completion, and I suppose they still could. I just don't like coach having old reliable around because it becomes a crutch. 1 2 Quote

davefan66 Posted March 12 Posted March 12 If the pass rush is upgraded and produces, that helps the dbacks do their job. Hopefully that’s what happened with the dline additions.  Still would like to see quality safety depth. Quote
