Brandon has a history of plugging holes in free agency so he doesn’t have obvious gaps going into the draft.  We needed a pass rusher, he gets Bosa.  A bigger outside WR?  Palmer.  Gets Hoechst to bolster the D line.

I expect we’ll see a CB added in the next couple days, maybe bring back Douglas.  I expect a big DT to be added.  And that will probably be it.  Some are thinking safety but I think they’re good with Rapp and Bishop as starters.  I also think they redo Benford but maybe not Cook yet.

So going into the draft Brandon won’t feel forced into focusing on a specific position.  I do think he’ll be looking at the big DTs; might just be bias on my part because I always want them to draft a big pile of goo to anchor the D line.  I could see him moving up for a guy like Grant in round 1.

I’m no draftnik, but it’s supposedly a good RB draft. It would be smart, even if they are considering extending Cook, to see who ends up on the roster after the draft first before committing resources to  him. Maybe someone falls to them in a lower round that makes Cook less of a priority.

As long as he adds defensive tackles and a legit starting corner, they can go into the draft and really go BPA. That would be refreshing.

I've been thinking the same thing........let's see how the draft pans out for RB's before committing to Cook.

That is some smart thinking by Beane right there.

With the DT and DE free agent signings, I think Beane will probably be looking at CB in the first round.  If he brings in a veteran corner that could be a starter, he'll be in full best player available draft mode and won't feel like he has to reach for any player.  This will be a great position for the Bills to be in.  Without having a number of glaring holes, Beane will be able to use his numerous draft picks to move around to get players that he wants.  It really is a great position to be in and it shows how skillful the player personnel operation of the Bills is.  They've come a long way from the time of Buddy Nix.....lol.

Pretty much down to a CB now.  Beane went a little strong (dollar-wise IMO) on needed pieces of Bosa and Palmer.  I think a strong push may be needed for the CB.

Otherwise I think Beane will only do value adds.  In particular i would like to see a vet WR added.  With DHop only going for $6M I think there might be some pressure on C Kupp and A Cooper to take a value rate.  Kupp becomes available at noon.  If no vet WR is added I will consider losing Hollins as an error.

As for Cook, I love the excitement and big play possibilities he brings.  But we know he is going to be a difficult contract - I don't think he should get $15M.  And this is something that can be waited on.

Is love for Douglas to come back and eventually become our dime CB. Light a fire under his ass to tackle

*Fixed nickel to dime. Brain fart.

Why? Where is Taron Johnson going?

Any quicks he may have once had are just gone.

I'm doubtful he can play any of the corner positions in this league any more.

i had meant dime back.

i think he can cover TE's inside the hashes well enoguh where the quicks and speed will be less valuable.

Is spite of the ridiculous shredding by some Bills fans, BB rebuilding us towards another 13+ win season. If you can't understand how successful the dude has been I can't help you.

I will give him credit in keeping the Bills a top team year in and year out. It's much better than the drought era. I still want just one season where they overspend on free agency.

To me, outside of CB2, we still have question mark on 1T DT and FS. People may say we have Daquan Jones, but he's not good enough right now in my opinion. And we are banking on Bishop to become a play maker at FS.

I recall Beane once saying exactly what you've observed: he tries to plug all the holes in free agency so he doesn't have to reach for need on draft day.

As long as the Defense shows up in January and February.  I think that's all we care about.  Getting pressure on the QB's we play this year, and its more good ones than not, and getting their butts off the field on 3rd down.

On one hand I like going into the draft without any glaring holes and being able to mostly take best player available but on the other hand it kind of feels like year after year we waste a lot of cap money on JAGs and end up with too much redundancy at positions.   For example, if Beane happens to draft a receiver with one of his first 2 picks. What does that mean for Josh Palmer, Curtis Samuel or Keon?  If they take a DT rd 1 then suddenly 8 million for Ogunjobi as a depth piece feels like an overpay.
