LOVE this signing...I didn't like the idea of him when he was released because I thought for sure he would get a multi-year deal and I didn't like the idea of that unless it was cheap, which with the bloated contracts raising the prices of edge players, that seemed unrealistic.

But...one year deal?  Only $12M?  SIGN ME UP.  There is no risk here what so ever.  We were a ref screw job away from a SB birth last year with $31M in dead wasted cap space for Diggs.  So $12M isn't much to risk on a guy who could have a rejuvenated season here the way we like to rotate our DL.  Honestly, I look at this as an upgrade potential from what Von was giving us.  And if it doesn't work out, who cares, he is off the books next year and his deal didn't really hurt us this year.

Now all that being said...I will manage my expectations given he needs to stay healthy still, but if he can, this is a guy who could come up in some big spots in a big game when we need to get off the field.  I would trust a healthy Bosa on any given snap more than I would have trusted Von this past year.

It seems possible.  Von had 6 sacks in 13 games.  Bosa had 5 in 14.  Can’t imagine he’d cost more than half of what Joey’s getting.

Von did that in 279 snaps to Bosa's 456. So hopefully Bosa will be healthier this season because just getting on the field for 14 wasn't enough to mean he has returned to form.

Not sure what Von could get with incentives.

I wonder if he played most of the snaps in SD. M'D likes to rotate players in & out so maybe he'll be less prone to injuries with the Bills. If we have some games where we have a large lead I won't risk him having him in too much.

In his first 6 seasons, Bosa played ~75% of the snaps (69-86% year by year).

The last 3 seasons. he's played 50%

Check last season. Look in this thread.

Bosa’s dad played with the hated Fish in the late 80’s and early 90’s.

We recently had Bryan Cox kid on the squad.

Cats and dogs playing with each other!

not upset about it but not crazy over it. Von 2.0 but one year and younger. Healthy he’s great but that’s 50% of the time…

best scenario he’s suspended for driving with dareus the first 6 games 🚘 , then lightly used for the next 6. Then all out for the final run. 😂 only way to keep him healthy.

Not counting the game where he was injured, I see a low of 24% and a high of 78%.  Average is around 50%.

There were 4 games where he played more than 60% of the snaps, and 5 games where he played less than 50%

Unsure of your point?

You're making it sound like he was often injured in the last 3 years. In 2024, he played in 14 games and had 9 starts. His snap count was lowered, and he benefited from that with 6 pressures and 1 sack in the Chargers playoff game last year.

I like the upside potential but it feels like such a coin flip on whether he’ll be healthy at the end of the season for a team that really needs a top talent on the d-line.

What I don’t like is if he isn’t and the defense is awful for the 7th straight postseason, the injury excuse will come up yet again even though this is a big risk from the start.

I honestly rolled my eyes at first when I saw the headline on TV, but for 1 year and 12 million, that is not a bad risk to take. If he could get back to how he was a few years ago, he would be a great addition.

Looking at this film, we have not had a guy who can wreck a line like this since Bruce. Impose his will. He’s not Bruce, but looks petty good here. Will need to look at more game film.

Defense needs to allow him to be him.

Love the signing. Love BBB after dark!

Bryce Paup was an absolute animal. Watched him play in person and he absolutely destroyed people on his way to DPOY.

I expect him to be on some load-management plan. So expect to see AJ or a rookie taking a chunk of snaps still.

No need to play him hard in games that don't matter.

I don’t recall his play…went to many games back then and in my advanced age…forgot a lot. Other than he was an animal in stats.

Thing is, how long ago was that?  Maybe Mario was one of the last player with true pass rush skills since him?

Von was an animal before the injury. This is my favorite play (click through, it's worth it):
