From a purely non-analytical standpoint I will never ever get tired of seeing big names come to Buffalo. Even if it might not mean whole lot on the field.

Expect Taylor Swift 1x per year!

I mean, anything can be true if we're just making stuff up. If we're talking about what actually happened though:

You're right. I was wrong. Productive wasn't the right wording. It was that his pass rush win rate last season was equal to Sweat's best year.

That's definitely a useful data point. The availability is not a small cocern though, and neither is the ability to do something after you win the pass rush.

How much did you watch him last year? Watch this clip of the highlights from the wild card game and pay attention to his speed once he breaks through the line. The guy just doesn't have a gear to make a play back there. Maybe If we had Trey Hendrickson on the other side, his job could be to push pressure into him, but we don't. Rousseau isn't that guy, and neither is Oliver.

If Trey Hendrickson ends up being traded, then that would be a fair thing to critique.

But until he is, I'm assuming with Defensive End being one of the most picked through positions in Free Agency early by teams with needs that Cinci isn't interested in dealing him.

They've got a ton of money (probably bc they don't like paying people). So if they wanted to do Chase, Higgins, and Hendrickson - they probably could. Even if they wanted to do only two of them, my guess is Higgins would be the odd man out first.

I'm sorry, this just reminds me of when we signed another often-injured, past his prime Charger - Shawne Merriman.

Thankfully, it's only one year, but he'll almost certainly give us less production than Leonard Floyd did 2 years ago, but for more money.

I'm not sure how much he has left. But I'm also not sure he has been fully healthy at any point in the last three years.

If they get the player LA has seen the past three seasons this does not move the dial. If they can get him fully fit and firing maybe it can.

Worth a flyer? 10000%.

I'm pretty sure you can't have more than 100% of something.

And the fan consensus over here was that we drafted the wrong Josh.

I like the idea of him in his prime but I’ve made fun of how lame this dude has been the last few years that I just can’t get excited about the signing. Again this is just my POV as a guy who watched him from a distance but he doesn’t seem like a team guy. He’s got an entitled and lazy persona about him and doesn’t play hard or have that competitive edge I see from his little brother. Floyd was less money and a proven commodity in our D. Hope he just needed a change of scenery but I’m not optimistic on this dude.

Hendrickson is def way better. But you got to trade a bunch of assets and pay him 30-35 million

And the Bengals have to be willing to trade him to a team they’ll most likely be competing against.

Can’t find anything now but I could have swore he made a comment about Buffalo when he was a free agent going from Saints to Bengals.

It was never even in my periphery that the Bills would be interested in him, but I was on a Chargers form the other day just reading comments about various things, and Bosa was obviously a big talking point.

The fan consensus over there is that he is completely toast. That he struggled to make a difference even when healthy and that his best days are far gone. Also a lot of talk about him being good for a penalty per game.

I remember thinking, I feel bad for whatever team pays him.

Oops.

Based on his performances the last three seasons theynare entitled to think he is toast. And they may well be right. The only thing I'd dispute is I don't think he has been healthy for any of that time.

Which means the Bills are taking two risks:

1. That they can get him properly healthy; and

2. That is he is fully healthy some of the old ability remains.

They have to nail both 1 and 2 for this to be a good deal.

At 12.6 million it is a great deal.  Bosa is basically signed on a prove it deal.  Even if he doesn't have much in the tank it's a great deal.  Imagine if he produces half as much as Garrett this year, Garrett is getting 40 million a year.  The biggest downside is he would be wasting a roster spot if he is a total flop.
