Looking at this film, we have not had a guy who can wreck a line like this since Bruce. Impose his will. He’s not Bruce, but looks petty good here. Will need to look at more game film.

Defense needs to allow him to be him.

Love the signing. Love BBB after dark!

Damn he was cooking in that video. sheesh

Personally, I think you really can fault him for trying. He's supposed to do more than try. He's supposed to try intelligently.

I don't like this. It could be good, and I'm praying that I'm wrong. That much time injured, and we spend $12M? Too much for me.

I haven't seen the doctor's reports, and presumably the Bills have. So, maybe he'll be terrific. Jeez, I hope so.

But I hear people saying they don't lose anything if it doesn't work out, and to say that you have to think that $12M is nothing. And to me, it's a lot. It's good that it's a one-year deal, that does lower the risk, but $12M is not nothing. It's $12M you can't spend on someone else.

Thats Cook’s 12 million. Beane gonna hear about that.

You know, the process probably went something like this.

  1. Beane identified pass rusher as a premium need
  2. Called about Garrett and Crosby and got shot down.
  3. Tried to make a play for Sweat, but Josh chose to play for his old DC in Arizona for similar money.
  4. Called about Hendrickson, but Duke Tobin demanded 2 firsts and Hendrickson wanted Garrett money
  5. Tried to get Floyd back, but Floyd chose to go home to GA.
  6. Threw an extra 2 million guaranteed for one year at Bosa as a low risk, high reward solution.

It was option F, but that's how FA works. Guys get to go where they want and you can't force them even with money to take your deal.

I'm referring to our Jordan Phillips (#97 with a winter coat under a jersey) to demonstrate size isn't the mark of a guy bring a 1 tech.

All of those guys I listed have the size, the base, and the power to play the 1-tech. My preferences are Grant, Walker, Collins, or Caldwell. Williams is a solid option also.

Yes!!  Watch old Bruce film. Dang if he doesn’t look similar.

Obviously it just a small sampling, but tell me when you’ve seen any of our guys just wreck the line like that?? A few times a game and it makes a difference!

For his career,

Bosa has totaled 343 tackles,

157 quarterback hits,

87 tackles for loss,

17 forced fumbles

4 fumble recoveries

in 107 regular-season games.

His 72 career sacks rank second in Chargers history, behind only Leslie O'Neal (105.5).

 Dang. Should have signed O'Neal!

Doubt it. I expect AJ to take a lot of snaps especially on likey rush downs. Need to limit Bosa’s snap so he’s ready for the playoffs.

This is exactly the opposite of how they used AJE last year and idky we’d expect that to change. They’d save 4M cutting him, so if you can bring in a rookie who can complete right away then I think it makes him expendable especially knowing he’s on his last leg.

edit; hang on do you mean “rushing the passer” or “rush the football” because my post was in regards to him being primary an early down player

Bosa was the 19th ranked edge against the run last year, in pretty limited snaps. I believe Hoecht was up there too. I think Beane’s had enough of teams gashing us like they did late last year.

Floyd got 10 million.  Bosa gets 12.6?  Yeah, I’d make that gamble any day of the week.  Joey is elite when healthy and he’ll be playing with extra motivation to earn that final big deal.  Hell yea.  Go ahead BBB.

Yes to an extent though.  Many thought Barkley was injury prone.  Some turn it around.   But others are prone to injury.   I like the deal.  He needs stats to score another long term contract.

As has already been stated/alluded to in this thread, Bosa IS awfully..."muscly"...which tends to catch up to a guy sooner rather than later.

No, not that Jordan Phillips my friend. Jordan Phillips from Maryland in the upcoming draft. He's a day 3 option as a 1-tech

I think the point you're replying to might have been suggesting that the FORMER Jordan Phillips is an example of a giant 320+ lb DT who was much better as a penetrator, not unlike some of the big DTs coming out this year. I read the intentional analogy to be pointing a finger at Tyleik Williams from Ohio St, among others; sounds like a 1-gapper for sure, and more favorably projected when aligned as a 3T. Despite his size.

If people had known that he could have been obtained for just one year at $12 million, after being initially released, the initial comments would’ve been completely different.

agreed. This is a fantastic deal

Bosa will have motivation and likely sack incentives

Not a move I saw us making. Only 1 year, though. Not huge money. It's a gamble. Could pay huge dividends or he could be a non factor. Either way w/ our heavy rotational system, I am guessing his snaps will be much more limited than he is used to seeing. Hopefully it keeps him healthy. If not, whatever. He's an absolute animal when he's healthy and on the field. Just hasn't been on the field enough the last couple years. Here's hoping he was saving a full, dominant season for us! Worth the swing. GO BILLS!
