Bosa is a high risk, high reward type of signing. He is coming off the most pressures he's ever had in a single season with 39, and he only played in 14 games. That's about 3 a game. Question is who are they lining up outside the LT? Both Groot and Bosa typically line up outside the RT.

How is he a high risk signing???

What's the chances of him, Milano and Bernard all being on the same field at the same time healthy. It's sounds great on paper.

That's a virtual china shop.

If healthy and productive, he brings a pass rush threat we haven’t seen much of lately, and this should allow Groot to reach his full potential. At one year for less than 13 mil, it doesn’t cause cap headaches if it doesn’t work out, unlike Von. Overall positive signing.

Didn’t Lloyd get released today? I’d rather have him again.

33 at year start?

I thought he ran out of gas in Buffalo by the end of the year 2 years ago.  Not sure bringing him back was a satisfying answer.

Any idea what side Bosa predominantly plays and/or excels at? I heard Joe Marino mention Hendrickson was a RDE which pairs well with Rousseau

I recall seeing him mostly on the offense's right side, so LDE. But that's purely a limited observation. I also feel like he was moved around a bit under the previous Chargers regime. Am I wrong? Someone will let me know if so.

What exactly has he done in the last 3 years that leads people to say “Nice!” ??

What he did before those last 3 years? I mean, it's only a 1 year deal. We had to do something

Joey Bosa entered the NFL in 2016 when he was drafted by the San Diego Chargers (now Los Angeles Chargers). Below is a breakdown of the games he has missed each season due to injury or other reasons, based on the regular-season totals. The NFL regular season consisted of 16 games from 2016 to 2020 and expanded to 17 games starting in 2021. Note that this focuses solely on regular-season games missed, not postseason or games where he played partial snaps.

2016 (Rookie Season): Bosa missed the first 4 games of the 16-game season due to a hamstring injury sustained during training camp, compounded by a contract holdout. He played in 12 games.

Games Missed: 4

2017: Bosa played a full season, appearing in all 16 games.

Games Missed: 0

2018: Bosa missed 9 games of the 16-game season due to a foot injury (bone bruise) that lingered throughout the year. He played in 7 games.

Games Missed: 9

2019: Bosa played a full season, appearing in all 16 games.

Games Missed: 0

2020: Bosa missed 4 games of the 16-game season due to a combination of a shin injury and a concussion. He played in 12 games.

Games Missed: 4

2021: Bosa played a full season, appearing in all 17 games of the newly expanded 17-game schedule.

Games Missed: 0

2022: Bosa missed 12 games of the 17-game season due to a groin injury requiring surgery. He played in 5 games.

Games Missed: 12

2023: Bosa missed 8 games of the 17-game season due to a combination of a hamstring injury and a foot sprain that landed him on injured reserve. He played in 9 games.

Games Missed: 8

2024: Bosa missed 3 games of the 17-game season due to a hip injury. He played in 14 games.

Games Missed: 3

Summary of Games Missed by Season:

2016: 4

2017: 0

2018: 9

2019: 0

2020: 4

2021: 0

2022: 12

2023: 8

2024: 3

Total Games Missed:

Over his nine seasons (2016–2024), Bosa has missed 40 games out of a possible 148 regular-season games (based on 16-game seasons from 2016–2020 and 17-game seasons from 2021–2024).

However, some sources, including posts on X, suggest he missed 41 games, which may reflect slight discrepancies in reporting or interpretation (e.g., counting a game where he was inactive but not officially ruled out due to injury). Based on the most consistent data from official NFL records and injury reports, the total is 40 games missed through the 2024 season.

This tally reflects his injury-prone career, with significant absences in 2018, 2022, and 2023, contrasted by three full seasons (2017, 2019, and 2021). His recent years (2022–2024) show a trend of missing substantial time, totaling 23 games over those three seasons.

The more it settles in the more I like it. I thought a team like the Pats or Commanders would overpay him on a 2 year deal. A 1 year prove it deal is perfect. If he stays healthy he can really get after the passer, if he doesn't there are no negative consequences beyond this year.

yea best signing so far. Lessens the need for an early round DE (aka hopefully an early WR). If we do take a DE as BPA may put Epenesa and his cap savings as a future cut since we already have 5 DEs and Groot, Bosa, Hoecht are all staying and Soloman probably is too.

What’s awesome is he seems to prefer to rush from the left side and Groot prefers the R.

Just need to add a big 1T and this Dline is set up nicely!!

Mixed feelings.

Bosa is a force when healthy but he hasn't been healthy. Maybe using him in the rotation and saving the snaps he sees for the playoffs helps. It's a slight overpay from the "less then $10M" offers that the 49ers and Dolphins were making...but if he grabs 10-12 sacks and a ton of pressure I'm ok with it.

All in all this is going to be a wait and see signing. If he plays 14 games shows out and is a factor in the playoffs it's a steal.

I mean sure it is a gamble per se, but when you look at the Bills predicament it is impossible for me to disapprove. A one year deal for a guy with the highest upside on the market, and if it doesn't work the Bills are not hamstrung long term. If it fails we're in the same place we were before. And none of this precludes us from drafting another edge in the first 3 rounds
