It was never even in my periphery that the Bills would be interested in him, but I was on a Chargers form the other day just reading comments about various things, and Bosa was obviously a big talking point.

 

The fan consensus over there is that he is completely toast. That he struggled to make a difference even when healthy and that his best days are far gone. Also a lot of talk about him being good for a penalty per game.

 

I remember thinking, I feel bad for whatever team pays him.

I’m not a fan of Beane, but at least he is trying something different rather than bringing all the same players back. Who knows if he stays healthy but the upside is there.

And thanks to all the breaking news experts letting us know he’s been injured a bit. That’s completely new information and I’m sure had no impact on us getting him for “just a guy” money.

Who even cares about the money, honestly? This is a very weak FA class. Giving most of our remaining 2025 cap space to Bosa doesn't prevent us from making any other meaningful moves. It's about as risk free as it gets. Manage his reps and let him loose in the playoffs.

Oops.

He’ll be on a much tighter pitch count in Buffalo which hopefully helps him regain his form.  To my mind this is much lower risk than paying Sweat $100M.

I understand that, but what if he goes ballistic? It’s a risk/reward type of scenario and it’s not like he’s Shawne Merriman type of washed. He’s only 29. Keep him fresh, rotate him in and out.. Could be a 10+ sack per year kind of guy.. Who cares about $12.5M? We paid Josh Palmer that..

Mixed feelings. 

 

Bosa is a force when healthy but he hasn't been healthy. Maybe using him in the rotation and saving the snaps he sees for the playoffs helps. It's a slight overpay from the "less then $10M" offers that the 49ers and Dolphins were making...but if he grabs 10-12 sacks and a ton of pressure I'm ok with it. 

 

All in all this is going to be a wait and see signing. If he plays 14 games shows out and is a factor in the playoffs it's a steal.

Love it. No ties beyond a year, small money. Great player when healthy.

Bosa is a high risk, high reward type of signing. He is coming off the most pressures he's ever had in a single season with 39, and he only played in 14 games. That's about 3 a game. Question is who are they lining up outside the LT? Both Groot and Bosa typically line up outside the RT.
