Doc Brown Posted March 12 Posted March 12 The extensions I give an A-. Love the Shakir and Rousseau deals. I would've waited a year on Bernard. The rest I give a C+. Really wanted Metcalf and all it would've pry taken was a 2nd and a 5th maybe? I like the players in Palmer and Hoecht but they were both a bit of an overpay. You have to do that in free agency though I guess. Psyched about Ty Johnson returning and I was fine with Hollins leaving even though he was a fan favorite. The no shoes thing kind of weirded me out anyways. I like the Bosa signing because when healthy this guy's a beast. One year deals are always my favorite with players like him. Just keep him in bubble wrap until the playoffs. Still would like to sign a veteran CB to play or compete with a rookie across from Benford. Quote
H2o Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I don't know about "earth shattering", but I like the Bosa signing. I'm glad we extended Groot, Bernard, and Shakir. I'm glad we re-signed Johnson. I kinda like the Josh Palmer signing. Scouting report says he runs crisp routes that get him open. Out of his 39 catches, 28 went for 1st downs. That's a 71% clip. I believe he is more of our new Gabe Davis. I'd like for us to get a CB before the draft, depth or whatever. The cupboard is pretty bare and Elam doesn't look like he's ever gonna amount to anything. Overall, I think it's a solid B thus far. 1 Quote
njbuff Posted March 12 Posted March 12 It’s about what I expected. If they go out and acquire Jeffrey Simmons after the draft, then the offseason will be very satisfying. Quote
dgrochester55 Posted March 12 Posted March 12 (edited) A for the extensions C+ for the free agency signings. B overall. McDermott usually gets people later at a cheaper price, so I am not worried. Hoecht, and Palmer seem like good complementary players that add depth, but not ones that are likely to single handedly get Buffalo to the Super Bowl. Bosa's best days are likely behind him, but the 1 year and 12 million makes the signing a low risk, high upside option. The extensions are the most important. Keeping the key players intact makes the entire offseason process much easier. For that alone, I am happy so far. Edited March 12 by dgrochester55 Quote
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Think of all position CB is the easiest for a rookie to come in and start, so could see them drafting a rookie high and still signing a rotational type CB now. Also think they will take a DT high in draft too. Likely maybe a WR in 4th or 5th, or they may still sign another role player. I'm fine with signing Palmer. The bills don't need a Chase, or even a Metcalf when you have a Josh Allen at QB. He makes the other players look much better. The team was overall la top 10 passing offense last year, adding Palmer will help and a healthy Coleman and Kincaid. Both also have a year under their belt also helps. Bosa is overall low risk at $12 mil for 1 year so ok there. Haven't seen a list of what Bills FA have signed elsewhere. I know Johnson, and Gilliam did resign here. Hollins went to NE, but haven't read about any one else like Douglas, Hamlin, Miller, or Morris. Quote
Homey D. Clown Posted March 12 Posted March 12 (edited) I don't see anything here that changes the seasonal outcome. They really need someone actually better than Oliver, someone more consistent than Rousseau, someone who can cover a tight end, and corners that stop passes from being caught. That's not happened here, and I don't think any GM could fix that overnight. Its heartbreaking to see these garbage defenses wasting the best years of Josh Allen. Who would in their right mind ever really thought we'd get a better QB in Buffalo than Jim Kelly, yet here we are with a 1st ballot HOFer and can't get past a handful of teams. If a team can't win a superbowl with Josh Allen, I can't see how you ever could with anyone else. Yep... I'm bitter. Edited March 12 by Homey D. Clown 1 1 1 Quote

Mister Defense Posted March 16 Posted March 16 (edited) Without the two suspensions may have said I was very satisfied. But the Bills did get stronger I think. Better at wide receiver with a likely starter in Palmer. Someone who runs good routes, gets separation, and can get down the field, with over 15 yards per catch the last two seasons. The offense was hungry for a player like that last year, to open up that part of the field consistently. I hope no one offers Amari Cooper much and he plays for under ten million, with incentives. The wide receivers would be set, much improved. Better on the defensive line, with players who will play a lot of snaps this year, stopping the run much more effectively and getting more pressure on passers. Better in the secondary, with the addition of Darrick Forest and resigning of Damar Hamlin. If Bishop comes through the Bills safety play will be much improved this year. Now they can focus like a laser on 2 defensive tackles and 3 cornerbacks. 1 wideout. Edited March 16 by Mister Defense Quote
