FireChans Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) Just trying to get some data from my fellow Bills fans on the moves made thus far! Obviously FA is not over, but the big wave of signings, re-signings and trades is past. Edited 10 hours ago by FireChans 1 Quote
TheWeatherMan Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago It is way too early, if nothing major happens to address the DL, Secondary, and WR positions, I’d say this was another wasted offseason. Quote

Victory Formation Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago They’ve retained some really good players (Josh, Groot, Bernard) A+++ As far as FA in general goes, I am really, really underwhelmed. C- 1 1 Quote

SoCal Deek Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago It can best be described as nothing more than treading water. Now….that’s not terrible when you were within one catch of going to the Super Bowl. By far the biggest improvement, and it’s not even close, was one of subtraction with the release of Von Miller. 3 Quote
Wizard Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) Palmer and Hoecht are "C's" from a talent standpoint in FA. Palmer's contract was an overpay, for sure. Extending Allen, Shakir, and Ty Johnson were A+ moves. Rousseau and Ferguson were B-level resigning. Bernard was a good resigning but a slight overpay by about 3 million per year. Cook and Benford are still with us, but I would like to see them extended. It's a "Meh" off-season as we have not included any real difference-maker. I would like to see one of the following come about: a 2nd CB, a starting DE opposite Rousseau, or a big NT next to Oliver signed. Does not have to be a huge signing. Just an upgrade. oldmanfan Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago It wasn’t a great FA class. Most important moves involved either resigning guys or trades. 2 1 Quote
GASabresIUFan Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) I'm very happy with the extensions, but without Cook and Benford being re-signed the process remains incomplete. As to the FAs, I like the Palmer signing and am Ok with Hoecht, but we haven't really filled our most critical needs. A starter at CB is a necessity through free agency or trade and we need a Groot level or better pass rusher to play opposite of Groot. While I expect both areas to be addressed in the draft for the future, we lost in the playoffs because of the poor pass rush and mediocre coverage. Edited 10 hours ago by GASabresIUFan 1 1 Quote

If they truly want to pay a CB big money they might as well just pay Benford and draft another. 1 Quote
JohnNord Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I voted slightly satisfied. I really like the re-signed players and their contracts. I think Palmer will turn out to be a great signing. I’m hoping Hoecht too… but we’ll see. Unless they can trade for a big name, which is doubtful, the plan seems to be to sign undervalued players and HOPE to finally draft well in rounds 1 and 2. It’s the hope that kills you 1 Quote

Do you really think a rookie CB will be better than what we got from Douglas last year? Remember how Elam worked out? We need to draft a CB early, but we need a vet to carry the load next year while the draftee learns the system and the speed of the NFL. Earlier I suggested Gilmore or Slay for that starter/mentor role. 1 Quote

If they pant to pay Benford, great, but I think we should add a Dane Jackson or Rasul Douglas type of player to compete with Kaiir Elam. Quote
Alphadawg7 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) Depends…if I’m factoring in the deals ahead of FA for Allen, Shakir, Groot, etc then I’m some where in the somewhat to very satisfied area as we got really good value on those deals IMHO. If it’s strictly on the FA signings only, it is slightly satisfied. I think Palmer is a good fit and solid signing and I love the Ty deal. I’ve seen Hoecht play in LA, so I’m intrigued but it’s also not overly exciting either, so we still need bigger moves on the DL as he probably is just a rotational player. It’s early though, so I am also still expecting more, and if we don’t do much else I would reevaluate my grade. Edited 10 hours ago by Alphadawg7 2 1 Quote
HomeTeam Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago So far so good. We essentially took care of our own this. I can't speak to much on the FA signings, but I'm hopeful they can make an impact. I'm saddened that we were not able to bring Mack back. I really liked the tenacity and playful nature he brought to the team. Also, in the big moments, he came through for us. Quote
NewEra Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Was hoping for more. I like the players and feel that both will fill specific roles. Quote
billsfan89 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Thus far I am a bit meh, the extensions have all be very good to solid. The external free agency has been underwhelming. The Bills resigned some of their role players (Ty and Gilliam plus their exclusive rights guys and then added Palmer and Hoecht who while not underwhelming players aren't huge needle movers at least on paper (which is all this is right now). The initial big splurge wave is done and now the "middle" portion of free agency settles in. Still some top talent out there and a lot of impactful upper middle to middle market guys out on the market so the Bills can still make good moves that will impact their roster. They just haven't made those moves yet. Personally I would like to see the Bills add a 1-Tech DT and get a starter at corner and add depth at safety. Those moves will open up the Bills draft board a good amoung and address depth. Quote

He desperately needs to be playing in a different defense. 1 Quote
