  1. 1. Who will start opposite Benford?

    • Sign Asante Samuel Jr
    • We will re-sign Rasul Douglas if the market for him is low
    • Ja'Marcus Ingram
    • Sign Jonathan Jones
    • We will trade for someone
    • Rookie
    • FA Field

Rumors were the Bills were in on Samuel Jr, not sure I see the fit there. Seems like there are good secondary player left in the free agency crop.

Rumors were based on a fake "insider".

Doesn't mean it couldn't happen. Although I'd agree a guy who is very good in coverage, but much less than that as a tackler is a great fit for a McDermott team. But there's no smoke to that fire.

As for the poll question itself, I'll trust anyone that McDermott will think work, whether that's a big name FA, an under the radar FA, or a Draft Pick.

One thing I will not accept is Rasul Douglas. He was atrocious last season. He'll be 31 this year and I think it's very likely he hit the wall. I'd take a return of Dane Jackson and a 2nd Round Pick over Douglas.

We have 3 picks in the first two rounds and knowing this team, we will draft the #2 corner there. For as long as I can remember this team loves to draft CBs early. Not saying I want that to happen but that’s what I envision

I don’t understand the aversion to drafting CB early.

I'm starting to wonder, since everyone else besides Cook has been paid, if the plan is to let Benford play it out and to pivot to a CB1 in 2026 who is either a high draft pick this year or a middle class FA this year.

Well mostly because we seem to miss more than we hit. Out best corner is a late round pick and our all pro slot guy it middle. Tre White was great and Gilmore was good but that’s 8-10 years ago. That’s the problem. I’m ok with it in general we actually need it now bot usually when we do it we don’t really need to.

The only corner that I remember being drafted fairly early in the last several years has been Elam who was clearly a miss.  I don’t know why he hasn’t panned out and the consensus that I remember about him was late first early 2nd range.  Every team has regrettable picks now and then - especially when picking late in rounds.

I understand the hesitation due to being burned by the Elam pick, but cornerback is an important position and avoiding it early because they missed on Elam will not lead to good results.

I understand your point, but come on Nate Clements was drafted 24 seasons ago and McKelvin 17 seasons ago.  Aaron Williams was a safety.

Given that the Bills play 3 CBs almost all of the time, that list seems pretty light to me.

Please don’t get me wrong - I’m not pounding the table to take a CB, but they pretty much have to take 1 early this year and probably another later.

Market seems to be soft for Rasul.  We'll probably re-sign him soon. And then add a high draft pick at CB to compete

Have a feeling the Bills are going to go back to the well with one of Rasul, Tre or  even Dane.  James Bradberry has always seemed to be in rumors tied to the Bills also.

I think it’s very likely we draft some order of CB DL WR with our top 3 picks. They probably also use a 5th on another CB to add more competition.

I think Benford's concussion history is a determining factor into this decision. I'm amazed that Asante isn't signed by anyone as of this post

Williams was actually drafted as a corner but moved to safety (as someone noted).  Pretty sure Darby was a safety and picked fairly late.  He started for Smith in the SB because of injury.  Don't forget Winfield.  I'm also hoping the CB that our front office remembers most is White rather than Elam when drafting and I hope that makes them pick Amos.

still hoping for Samuel…but

I forgot that Jeff Okudah spent that one year in Atlanta, it was probably the best year of his career and his defensive coordinator was Ryan Nielsen. Okudah always had that upside could be interesting. Hes the corner built in lab who was overdrafted.

I would also consider throwing a late pick to the Pats for Alex Austin. He’s kind of one that got away, his secondary coach is here and he is not in line to start anymore.

Was hoping they’d go after St. Juste. Enjoyed what I saw from him in the Commanders games I managed to catch last year.

CB is either a cheap vet, be it Douglas  or a guy in the draft imo.

Vet wise, I’d love for them to scrap Douglas and sign either

Noah Igbinoghene
or

Ahkello Witherspoon

maybe even give CJ Henderson a shot as he wasn’t too bad before his exit from Carolina. Didn’t really do anything in Pittsburgh though.

No way of knowing for sure, but my hunch based on the way Beane worked in the past is that he has several offers sent out and the first to call and take the deal is here. I would bet these are to guys he's familiar with and know the system (Douglas, Jackson and White).  My guess is the hold up is they are small one year deals in which I can see all 3 waiting a bit to take the offer and to wait and see if something better comes in once the CB market dries up a bit

Then couple the vet that comes in with Benford while still taking a CB day 1/day 2 to put in the mix.
