there must be incentives too, otherwise this is way too low.

He's a married man. Maybe he doesn't want to move? He also played for a bad organization before so he knows the value of a stable situation.

Though he might have got 2 x $3m …. Maybe someone offered him that and he decided to stay in Buffalo?

I agree that it's not enough, but in this case Cook is not being traded for a pick. He's being traded along with a first to sweeten an offer to move up in the draft. The Bills would be trading Cook AND 30 for 12. But I agree that won't get you 12. It could get a pick in the 20's, but teams that need a RB would have to weigh paying the proven Cook over drafting the cost-controlled Hampton. I think Denver at 20 would be a good spot to look. That places Cook's value at a high 3rd, according to the draft value chart. But Dallas might also take 30, 56, and Cook for 12.

Oh, I know they were saying 30 and Cook for 12. But Cook alone with 30 isn't worth anywhere close to enough to move up 18 picks.

5 mil may seem like chump change during free agency, but I'm here ta tell ya folks - 5 mil goes a looooong way!!!  One of my favorite players last year!  So glad we've got him back!

100%.  That is why I have no problem packaging Cook and 30 to say Dallas at 12.

This would value Cook at Pick 33…. Bit of a pipe dream.

Absolutely not. We have a minimum of four positions on defense that need upgrades, and maybe another WR. There is no way we hit the first 4 or 5 picks outta the park.

We know how they do business.  They are going to sign a mid level vet cb and probably one or two DLineman at some point in the coming weeks.

guys they will hope the draft picks outplay.

I imagine they will be in on any big time Ends-Wr that can be traded for also if the situation arises.

I just don't see them doing much more than a few more mid level vets.  And I am sure  they will add more mid level vets after the draft also.

Ty reminds me of a quicker less powerful Kevin Faulk. Dude just catches everything and makes a few critical plays. He's going to be 28 makes sense the Bills would want him back. Bills line up a critical role player. Very solid piece of business.

Cook and 30 isn’t nearly enough.  Imo

Agree why would Dallas make this trade? They can draft the Boise State RB at 12 and not have to pay big money for Cook.

Keep your own, just like Marv always said. Still plenty of cap space for Bedford and Cook, too, sounds like. Nice work, Beane--and McDermott. Their job building a team and culture that players want to stay part of is paying off off the field as well as on it.

Well, looks like the draft will be have to be the difference between AFCG and Super Bowl next year. With ten picks to work with, Beane has capital to get creative. Cornerback has become a yawning chasm with the decline of Rasul and the undeniable bust that is Elam. It would be nice to have Dane Jackson back as a CB3, but the CB2 probably is going to have to be first-round draft pick. In a deep DL draft, Beane can pick up his DE and DT in the second round. A speed WR in fourth, if the pick survives Beane's itchy trade-up finger, a safety with the other fourth.

Sounds good, but let's be honest, the pass rush won't be much better, the secondary will be deeper but still not stellar, the linebackers a pair of injuries waiting to happen, and the wide receiver room still as bland as ever. Best case scenario: Bishop shines, the new CB2 is a home run, Rousseau becomes a monster playing on his natural side (with Von gone), Milano and Bernard finally stay healthy, and either Coleman or Palmer is a revelation.

If all these pieces fall into place (and everyone stays healthy), they...could....go... all... the...way!

what else is sitting on the desk?

Ok that wasn't fair. Coke jokes are fun tho...

Anyway, it is my understanding that the Bills put offers to everyone they wanted to bring back, which is literally most every free agent and at an offer they'd like - and there has been little to write down about Cook but I don't know much there

Evidently the off-season map started a long time ago and included the values of every player they had and who they wanted. They made the offers to their guys open ended. They extended offers to people they wanted. They are waiting the game now.
