These guys look beyond just next season when drafting. Johnson may have gotten two years but it might only be a 1 year deal for all we know Yes …there might be value in a strong class getting a guy say in the 6th that might be a 4th in most years …but they only put 3 on the team …so if the guy shows anything its going to be hard to keep him on the PS if there are no injuries.. The thing I do like about trading Cook is whoever trades for him would likely give him a nice new fat contract as part of the deal. A trade gets us something in return as well as some say so over where he ends up (someplace like Dallas over someplace like KC or NE perhaps) and we avoid losing a good weapon to a rival real ala Barkley to the Eagles 1 Quote

biggerdaddynj Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Glad we re-signed the best third down back in the NFL. My favorite free agent signing … to date (softens the blow of losing Mack). 1 4 Quote

Cook's value isn't what most fans think it is. Running Backs take a hit when it comes to trade value. Guys on the last year of their deal take a hit when it comes to trade value. Guys who want a massive new contract take a hit on trade value. He's probably worth a 4th. A 3rd if we're *really* lucky. Edited 10 hours ago by BillsFanForever19 1 Quote

He's probably worth a 4th. A 3rd if we're really lucky. I agree that it's not enough, but in this case Cook is not being traded for a pick. He's being traded along with a first to sweeten an offer to move up in the draft. The Bills would be trading Cook AND 30 for 12. But I agree that won't get you 12. It could get a pick in the 20's, but teams that need a RB would have to weigh paying the proven Cook over drafting the cost-controlled Hampton. I think Denver at 20 would be a good spot to look. That places Cook's value at a high 3rd, according to the draft value chart. But Dallas might also take 30, 56, and Cook for 12. https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp Quote
