I know he was an all-time great personality, and that he run blocked his ass off and was a special teams and locker room asset, but…

He also posted 378 receiving yards and was absolutely limited as a pass catcher.

I little sorry to see him go, I guess, but let’s not pretend he was anything more than a journeyman WR4/5 type with a likable personality.

Yeah, I mean there’s a reason he’s going to be on his 6th team in 8 seasons.  Buffalo likely got the best year of his career out of him.  That’s a win.

Good points on the injuries of the WRs.  Even so, it seems to me you want your skill players to have a better numbers than what his were.

He was good at blocking (also good to hear that Palmer is a decent down field blocker).  I just see Coleman, Samuel, Palmer and I suspect

a speedy rookie getting more of the snaps.

I have nothing bad to say about Hollins, just think he is not needed anymore.

I would have liked Hollins back but I'm not gonna overpay for him is my take. Gonna miss his whole vibe and he was a very good role player. But I think a rookie taking that WR 5 spot while scooping up a cheaper vet to kick the tires on as a ST ace type later in free agency is the prudent way to go and the Bills have always operated very prudently in the McBeane era for the most part.

I don't get how Palmer is worth 12 million a year and Hollins not worth 4 mil a year to us. Sure, Mac is no superstar -neither is Palmer. The intangibles are what we may miss with Hollins. Certainly, his downfield blocking, where he was more effective than even our TE Dalton Kinkaid. He led the team in receiving TD's. actually showed up in the playoffs and was a special teams demon. His locker room presence and charisma will be missed. We may regret this.

I already regret it.

Surprisingly sad about this. He played his role perfectly. Mack Hollins is not a WR1 or a WR2. He is a solid option for WR4/5. He overexceeded my expectations and had clutch first downs and tds throughout year. Excellent run blocker, special teams and great teammate. We went from Diggs to Hollins and as large as the talent gap was so was the personality. It was refreshing

I don’t think that money is an overpayment for what he did/does. You don’t get much of anything for 4.2 M.

I seem to go a little against the grain here and am a little excited to see him go.  Not that Hollins was bad for us, but because it signals to me that the FO is not done with the WR room and they anticipate getting someone better than Hollins.  This could be C Kupp or a draft pick.

Mack already peaked with us, you can’t hold guys like him and expect to develop your own. For the money he got from the Pats I’m happy for him.
I’d rather have Ty back than Mack if I’m paying a premium for either it’s Ty.

For us;

Keon, Shakir, Palmer, Kincaid, Knox, Samuel plus a draft pick are your main targets

I wouldn't have paid him what he got

I don't get it, why? 4 million a year for what he gave us?

That looks like a steal compared to what we've paid WRs that accomplished much less.

It seemed like a lot, but he had 31 catches for 371 yards for the Bills last year.

who was a leader, the most physical player in the WR room and who repeatedly made a bunch of clutch plays when the Bills offense was struggling and needed bailed out.

If Coleman doesn't step up in his sophomore season, the Bills are going to miss Mack Hollins' contributions.

Id add a heck of a special teams player too.  Not real easy to find guys as willing as he was.

Please stop.  You have zero clue what you are talking about, especially since you have no idea what his cap numbers are.

say what you want, over the course of his career Tom Brady never took these megadeals. Where his cap hit was compared to other league QBs

2011 - 7th - Lost Super Bowl
2012 - 16th
2013 - 5th
2014 - 11th - SB win
2015 - 14th
2016 - 18th - SB win
2017 - 19th
2018 - 11th - SB win

i had hoped with all the national endorsements for Allen now (Gatorade, Verizon, Pepsi, Nike, InBev, New Era, Gillette) that there wouldn’t have been the need to monopolize so much of the cap.

Bummer.   He got the spotlight by playing for the Bills.  Bills could have matched this contract but decided to go with a better pass catcher.  I am bummed.
