Exactly this.  I won’t lie, it hurt my feelings he left.  A guy like that deserves to be on a championship team.  He came a year too soon IMO

Outside of Josh he represents what the Bills Mafia is. Passionate and a little whacky

I'd have done that for him. Oh well, here's to hoping we made the right decision

Maybe, but the blocking, seemingly clutch play, personality, celebrating other players, being a pest to other teams is tough to replace

It looks like I'm going to be disappointed too.

I wouldn't mind letting him go if they upgraded the position.  I would consider J Palmer an upgrade but we also don't have A Cooper - if they bring back A Cooper I'm fine with it (or C Kupp or maybe D Johnson?).

I'm less enthused by a rookie, they are unpredictable and take time to develop - and I was hoping they would gear up for 2025 and take a run at the #1 seed.

I know Hollins wasn't a prolific producer. My memory may be rose tinted, but I remember about one big play a game from him. What facts do we know about what Beane offered him?

Maybe Beane didn't offer anything at all. In my guesstimation, Beane offered Hollins a one year contract and Hollins opted for the two years he was offered by NE.

FWIW, this is what he got from NE:

2025:
Base salary: $2,000,000
Signing bonus: $750,000
Roster bonus: $850,000
Workout bonus: $150,000
Incentives: $1,000,000
Salary cap hit: $3,750,000

2026:
Base salary: $2,900,000
Signing bonus: $750,000
Roster bonus: $850,000
Workout bonus: $150,000
Incentives: $1,000,000
Salary cap hit: $4,650,000

He averaged less than 2 catches and 25 yards per game, so I doubt he had a big play every game.

Beane making it sound like Mack didn't want to come back in his press conference

I'm assuming we offered a 1 year deal, and he took the 2 year instead. Beane's offer, if I had to guess, was probably a 1yr in the $3-$5M range.

I’m really curious as to what the difference in offers was.  I’d think, even if it was slightly better in NE, it would be easier to stay put and play for a winner.

Personally, I was hoping we’d offer him a 3yr, 12 mil total deal.  He was a great culture fit, didn’t mind getting dirty, and showed up in moments.

Seems if Bills were close they resign him. Apparently the Bills were not close. I don’t think that necessarily means he didn’t want to come back. Somewhat shocking the Bills let him go for such a relatively low price. How much is wanting to make sure Coleman develops and is on the field given the addition of Palmer 🤷🏻‍♂️

I mean, things like this tend to boil down to $$$. Hollins, at this stage in his career, more than likely went with the bigger payday. We're too busy over here giving Lattimer $24M.

I could see him thinking he might get more playing time in New England. He also seems like a free spirit hippie. In my experience, these personalities don’t like to stay in one place very long.

Boston is very uptight for a hippie lol

I understand he's a free spirit but I'd be free a lot of other places

And I think Boston is beautiful but it's definitely a guarded uptight place

Hollins really gave the Bills some swagger. He had some clutch plays last year. Sad to see him go. I really thought he would be a high priority in the offseason. Really sucks he went to the Pats. Now I can’t root for him.

Yeah, Massachusetts sucks. The most arrogant people I’ve ever met and the food is terrible.

the guys had a relatively modest career and this very well may be the last time he puts ink on paper in the nfl.

I can’t fault him if he chased every last penny so he could retire and live the life he wants

He certainly chasing every penny he's not a superstar he wants that last chance at the most money

It's a business I don't blame him

ultimately a 9 year vet and we paid him 3 of his 11m career earnings. Wild perspective that a guy that caught passes in JUCo from CARDALE JONES has only amassed 8m in cash earnings prior to last season

Figure half out the door before you even put it in a bank account so maybe bar napkin 5.5

and even a few hundred grand amounts to a not inconsequential percentage of his career earning.

go get it.

For sure he deserves to chase every dime..

But I do not believe cardale Jones play junior college football so I don't think they played together.. I remember seeing cardale at elite 11 camps and straight to OSU
