The reactions to him not signing are so over the top.  

 

I'll be shocked if he beats either of those numbers in New England. People on this board are ragging on Palmer but gutted that we lost Hollins, it makes no sense to me.

Maybe not.  The Bills could have been looking all along to upgrade the WR room.   Yes, Hollins exceeded expectations, but lets face it expectations were low.

 

Shakir/Samuel/Coleman were already locked in.  The addition of Palmer looks preplanned and helps with the role of boundary WR that can stretch the field.  My hope is the remaining integral part of this group is significantly better than Hollins.  This could be a veteran at a reasonable value - like C Kupp/DHop (Diggs?) or even A Coop back again.  Then the overall WR room looks better on paper than the 2024 rendition.

He lead the team in TD's and was there in some of the most important times when needed as a the guy to make the plays to go ahead or win the game, then you add on top of that his versatility and the attitude he brought to the team on and off the field .

 

Sure everything is looked at in what the stats are but there is a lot more that some players bring than just stats . Kyle Williams will never be in the HOF and his stats will never blow you away but dammit what a great Buffalo Bill and which Williams will go down in Bills history as the better player Mario or Kyle ? 

 

Kyle has my vote all day long !!!

Good for them - this one is a bit of an ouch for teh Bills as he was a popular player and productive. However, I don’t like the money and term of his deal. The Bills need to continue to push for flexibility.

Kyle Williams was a 6 time pro bowler and a 2nd team All Pro.  Are you really using him as a comparison to Mack Hollins?!  Hollins was an above average personality and an average at best WR.  Would I want him on the team as a #6 WR?  Sure.  Would I lose a second of sleep if he is not on the team?  Nope.

I don't think anyone is saying he is a Pro Bowler.  His salary shows what the league thinks of him.  It is not a huge loss, but honestly he outplayed hyped up first rounder Kincaid and Pro Bowler Cooper by quite a large margin when it mattered,in KC.  I can see why fans got a little attached to him.  Other than Shakir, you could say nobody was really above jag level for us as far as receivers go.  Mack outplayed his deal last year.  I want the Bills to get better, but they have certainly wasted money on worse players than Hollins before.  Not hugely upset with him leaving, but the WR room still looks iffy at the moment. Hopefully Palmer is not the best addition to the room.

I assume the players you are referring to are making plays against the Bills D - no surprises there.

 

The three immediate standout plays from that game on the Buffalo side are made by Mack Hollins, Jordan Phillips and James Cook.

 

One has left, the other will probably retire (or take PS deal here) and the third is wanting an upgraded contract and if unresolved could be an issue.

 

Mack Hollins is making that catch whilst being fouled by an All-Pro, coached by Spags, down 11 at the end of the 2nd half at Arrowhead. He delivered.

 

We are losing two quirky, edgy guys who bring the "juice", that energy needs to be replaced somehow.
