Beane does like his developmental guys like Ingram and Lewis. If Shavers can take on Hollins’ role, that’s about a 3 mill cap savings.

I still want the Bills to draft a WR this year too, maybe they can get a role guy like Shakir in the middle rounds or better (the next Puka).

I don't get how Palmer is worth 12 million a year and Hollins not worth 4 mil a year to us. Sure, Mac is no superstar -neither is Palmer. The intangibles are what we may miss with Hollins. Certainly, his downfield blocking, where he was more effective than even our TE Dalton Kinkaid. He led the team in receiving TD's. actually showed up in the playoffs and was a special teams demon. His locker room presence and charisma will be missed. We may regret this.

I am beyond furious we let Hollins go! Made so many clutch plays , had zany confidence and swagger and has won a SB. All that for a bargain price. Absolute stupidity by the Bills!

So many people hated the signing last offseason.  I had watched him in the Atl and thought he mostly would be a special teams help. He outperformed everyone’s expectations.  I’m sorry he is not returning, but it’s not the end of the world.  There are plenty of ST specialists and hopefully the addition of Palmer, removes the need for Hollins in the offense.  I also think they really like Shavers.

I know Palmer is probably a better version of Hollins, but still, at that price it seems stupid to let him walk?? Unless they’re so “uptight”

that they didn’t like his theatrics.

I do as well. Tai Felton, Arian Smith and Kyle Williams fit that description.

Interesting to see how many fans are sad to see him go when so many hated the Bills signing him last year. Maybe keep that in mind with this year's free agents.

Thanks for the memories Mack. You were a lot of fun to watch as a Bill, made some clutch plays, brought a toughness to the offense, and a cohesiveness to the locker room. You will be missed. Good luck moving forward...except when you play the Bills, of course...which apparently now will be twice a year.

Josh Palmer > Mack Hollins

Plus, I don’t think we’re done at WR yet.

I mean we have a 15m a 12m and a 9m guy plus a “1st round pick” dedicated

sure, we might add something but I doubt it’s substantial

i wonder what a Rondale Moore is slotting up for these days

he was enjoyable but he couldn’t be a WR2/3 for us and we need that (really need better than that)

Mack played hard. Mack was an interesting character. Mack was great in the locker room. Mack overperformed for his talent. Mack is a WR 5 or 6. All of that is true. We loved him for who he was here and how much effort he gave. He’s a bottom of the roster player. The Bills WR room is better today than yesterday. I wish Mack well but Palmer adds a dynamic that they didn’t have. Keon will have to develop into the role that Mack played (and then some). He’s going to have to be physical and a gamer. The Bills will miss the person but not the player.

I’m pretty surprised by the fan reaction about this one.

Mack was the epitome of a JAG.

Fun personality, but not a particularly good WR. Good luck to him, I seriously doubt he has another season as productive as the one he just had.

Pats used their massive cap space to hurt us with Hollins knowing we couldn't pay what they were offering

Shrewd move on their part

Hollins was worth a lot more to the Pats than he was to us and as you point out they have the bank to play. He outperformed expectations regularly and was a bigger asset than anyone guessed, but Meathead is a product of the “oppinfo” regime he played in and needs to figure out how to get a win against us every year if he wants to succeed in this coaching turn. Of course he was willing to overpay for a guy who clearly absorbed the Brady O last year, and in addition Vrabel absolutely admires Mac’s enthusiasm on the field as do most Bills fans.

but Shavers wears shoes, so that hurts the equipment budget

I guess Shavers better learn to play special teams.

From what I recall, he was lauded as being a really good special teams guy coming out. Blocked a bunch of kicks and things in college. I like the upside and the price. I truly think he can provide everything Hollins did with shoes on.

We can’t hit our potential with hollins leading us in touchdowns.

im not sure Palmer is the guy, but hollins can’t be our best perimeter red zone threat

This BLOWS!!! Great role player—glue guy with intangibles through the roof—a mentor and locker room guy, gave us a much needed fiery presence on the field; physically he was a great blocker especially for a WR (Kincaid should only be as good one day), very good hands when called upon he produced making some very good grabs, and he’s a special team ace (multiple key plays on teams).

He clearly earned/deserved a raise from his $2.6M deal last year.  It bums me out…

Read an interesting comment about him today on a post listing a couple sentence bio on every pending NFL FA.  For Hollins it said why has he been on 5 different teams, Maybe it’s because coordinators get frustrated when he doesn’t run the route as diagrammed.

Never heard that comment directly this past year, but could be true and maybe why less interest to resign him than most of us expected.   Don't think Allen minds that, but can see where the coaches may not be happy with it.
