One of the only benefits of not having a franchise QB is being to blow a lot of money the second week of March on guys that other teams did not want to re-sign...

The Jags are paying their (not a franchise) QB as much as the Bills are paying Allen though

Not horrible, but dang does it increase the need for a big space-eating DT / NT type.  Bills are just too small up front and adding another hybrid tweener seems to be digging a deeper size hole.

Or it 's another indicator that the top of our draft will include a big DT they realize we have to have to keep up with changes in the opposition's offensive philosophies. We spent the past seasons building a D to beat KC only to see evolution of the game make it obsolete as a base. Time to adjust the D to 2025.

Tim Settle was actually really good in Houston this past season.

Poona Ford also an example of another player who has seen success elsewhere.

There has to be some measure of failure on the part of coaching and scheme in the mix of issues with the Bills D line.

Think about change once Kromer arrived to coach o-line.

There is, but nobody wants to discuss it or admit it exists.  Too many lifer McD supporters here.

I'm a McD fan but I also believe that the DL is too straight forward.  Need a lot more movement in the pass rush.

It's one thing that's intriguing about the Hoecht signing.  I want to see more stunts.

No Tim Settle was actually really BAD for Houston but they let him just shoot gaps to his hearts content so he made some plays in the backfield.   He wants no part of doing the dirty work at DT.   Which is too bad because he's built to play with leverage.   Jordan Phillips wants nothing to do with defending 2 gaps either but at least he has the excuse of being tall and long legged.

Yea I’m gonna go off what I heard from analysts. The guys that actually watched the games due to the fact I was watching Bills games around the same time Houston was playing.

Well hopefully this swiss army knife element of Hoecht's game translates to more stunts and line movement.  I've never been a fan of the incessant DL rotations. So maybe we'll see him line up as a 3T, DE or OLB?  Hopefully we get the 2023 version?  Unfortunately it looks like we're not getting a splash pass rusher in FA?

I haven't given up hope on that but with limits.

Maybe, just maybe, Beane can get one of these older guys to come over for 1-2 years for some fun and a decent ring chance.

I am not a fan of this regime. But I can say with a lot of confidence that they know this is not enough. They will add more to the pass rush. Hendrickson is really the only elite guy kind of still out there. I don't know if they get him, but I feel like they know they have to add more. Maybe that comes via the draft.

Draft is deep at dline.  Having a guy who can play edge on run downs and versatile on passing downs isn't nothing.  Pairs well with a more pass rush specialist too.  Prospect from BC and Marshall fit that profile and projected around 30.   Maybe even a guy on day 2.

We're not getting Hendrickson, nor can we afford him now that we've over payed for AJE & Groot.  We will enter year 8 in the Josh Allen era without an elite game wrecking pass rusher.  Maybe we stumble on one in this upcoming draft, but with Beanes track record I'm not holding my breath.

We've also brought in plenty of players who had more success here than at their last spot what

Not sure how we overpaid for epenesa he got a 2 year 12 million dollar deal. He has 20 sacks over the last 3 years. Guys with less production are signing deals for much more.

If he had the same production for another team over that time and we signed him as a FA people would be excited

They brought in new coaches this year that all are going to be focusing on the Dline. So it seems like they see the issue and are trying to fix it
