Just stating facts.

All of those players were on division winning teams with the Bills. Won playoff games as well.

Jeesh. That's a lot of money. Devil in the detail as always with these contract numbers but $8m a year for a rotational pass rusher who is not an automatic scheme fit? Feels high to me. I was expecting it to come in more in the $5-6m range.

Agreed but I wonder if our AAV expectations are not fully caught up to the new salary cap yet. Every signing for every team today looked on paper like a big overpay. Twitter reactions were nothing but sticker shock today. But I think our brains are still stuck in the 2020 salary cap, even though the 2025 salary cap is 41% higher than it was back then. Naturally the contracts will rise by the same percentage. So Hoecht's contract would be equivalent to a $5.7M AAV in 2020, and that's before accounting for the fact that the reported AAV is almost certainly a fugazi. All in all probably a slight overpay but maybe not as much as our perception tells us. The cap is rising too fast for us to adjust our expections, but agents are very aware and front offices are being forced to follow suit.

regardless, an extra 3 million for 3 Blocked Kicks works for me!

that’s a special kind of impact player.

If he can manage to block just 1 kick this year and add 7-8 sacks, (he had 6 in 2023) it’s a very good addition

And in year 3, the percentage of cap space for this contract will be down from what it is today.

This signing seems a lot more valuable now

Blocking 3 kicks in a season is insane

who knows, he could block a huge kick and win us a game

for that he will have to get on the field...something that Sean hasn't been good at enabling.

Didn't Alex Carrington block like 6 one year?

Hoechts numbers are out. It’s 3 years 21 million with 13.5 guaranteed.  Added two void years. I mean I’m not salary cap guy but it looks like a 2 year deal at 9 million dollars with a 4.39 million dollar signing bonus. 3rd year isn’t guaranteed and all kinds of escalators involved. I’d say that’s a lot better deal than the initial 3 years 24 million that was reported.

Add in the two void years and the cap hit on his first year is probably really low

“This was the No. 1 FA on my board for Bills. Such an underrated, unique player.”

This guy BLOCKED 3 KICKS last year…..

nice find by Thad Brown

Guy sounds a little like Lorenzo Alexander as far as player.  DT transition to LB, wonder if he fits the same role.

Yes, it’s $7m a year.

It would count around $4.4m from the cap in 2025 and $7.5m towards cap in 2026 of which  $6m is in base that could be converted to a bonus and spread in remaining year and 2 voided years lowering the 2026 cap hit to $3M.

Interesting that they decided to use 2 voided years rather than the 1 that they have been using on a relatively small contract.  Probably because it’s not an extension and there are only 3 years on it.

Lo is one of my all time favorite Bills .  There is a play Lo was covering kick against the Pats, with one arm, he pushed one Patriots player into another, and forcibly took out both players, and made the tackle.  If anyone knows the play I’m referring to, and could post it, please do.  It was one of the baddest mofo plays I have ever seen in any football game.
