EDIT: sounds more like an athletic Lorenzo Alexander type. Went from a 310 DT to a full time outside LB. Most likely still DE3 in the Bills scheme.

This video is a good breakdown of his potential fit in Buffalo. They said he was ranked in the top 20 in run defense for all edge rushers last year, out of 211 eligible players. That is exactly what we need.  His pass rush is a bonus.

FWIW PFF graded him as the 104th best EDGE in 2024 with a 61.3 grade. As a pass rusher 60.3, as a run defender 73.5.

 

My initial though is it seems like a substantial overpay but I don't have a strong opinion on it. Given how much they're paying they presumably have a plan so we'll see how they use him.

I don't know the guy, but everyone knows the Bills need pass rush.  They must see opportunities to use him to create mismatches across the line.

Seems like the kind of player they could get in the draft for less money.  I don't know, I always hear about how these under the radar signings could be sneaky good, and they are usually flops.  These signings seem insignificant until you look and see the team running out of cap space, like you said.

Not a draft guru, but do you think this guy is head and shoulders above , say a third or fourth rounder in the draft?  I could be wrong, of course.  It is not a deal that will break the team, but I don't see him being better than most other jags.  Once again, I could be way off base here and he could provide great value.  It would certainly surprise me if he did, but it would be a pleasant surprise.
