Richard Noggin Posted yesterday at 04:16 AM Posted yesterday at 04:16 AM The guy has always managed to flash when I've watched the Chargers (which admittedly isn't often). Could be a solid fit for an offense designed to distribute the ball broadly but also looking specifically for a WR who can succeed on the boundary. Not intended to be more than a top-3 WR here with respect to target share, in my opinion. And probably/hopefully behind Kincaid as well. Are the emotional posters upset about not paying Metcalf 33M per? About not having a chance at the elite EDGE guys (I guess Sweat was technically available...maybe him instead of/or opposite Groot would have felt better?)? We know Beane tends to mostly plug holes in FA ahead of the draft. The draft is where a team should be finding the majority of its top talent (who can be developed and then re-signed more strategically). I guess the misses loom large for many fans, especially this time of year. 1 1 Quote

But we don't. We were a terrific offense last year. Terrific, with the receivers we had. But pretty much an average defense. That's where we need most of the work. Palmer is an upgrade, with the kind of ability to get deep that we don't have now, and the ability to get separation that we don't have enough of. He's a good move. And we were never going to spend megabucks on a receiver this year. Too many needs on defense, particularly the need to develop a serious pass rush. Warriorspikes51 Posted yesterday at 04:32 AM Posted yesterday at 04:32 AM I think one of the underrated aspects of the #Bills signing WR Josh Palmer is his experience against the Chiefs. Some of his best statlines against KC were: 8 rec, 106 yds, 2 TDS 5 rec, 133 yds, 0 TDs 6 rec, 78 yds, 0 TDs In total, Palmer had 33 receptions on 49 targets for 442 yds and 3 TDs in 8 career games against the Chiefs as a member of the Chargers. And a lot of times, he was playing behind Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and Ladd McConkey. - Kevin Siracuse Okay OK lets go. 5 1 2 Quote

Definitely have to get someone with outside speed capable of forcing defenses out of man coverage. I'm thinking we're done adding to the WR room in any meaningful way until the draft. We always keep 5 WRs and we already have 4 roster locks. Beane will want to keep his options open in the draft so 1 WR spot has to remain open. I agree they need to add some speed and/or vertical ability ideally by the end of day two. Draft options will be limited though in this class. A starting 5 of Palmer, Coleman, Shakir, Samuel, Isaiah Bond is not what I would have signed up for a week ago but it's probably best case scenario at this point. 2 6 Quote

Another WR that plays better from the slot, he's injury prone and is entering his age 32 season, and he'll probably be fairly expensive. They need to keep one roster spot available so they can draft someone relatively high and keep the pipeline going. If they miss out on a WR in the draft, sign a band-aid option after. Would it be a huge surprise if Cooper is still sitting around unsigned at that point? Lockett? Hopkins? I'll add one of these over the hill stopgaps if and only if it becomes absolutely necessary. Hopefully it won't. 1 1 2 2 Quote

If he becomes a Chief killer than I'm fine. 36M is alot of money to pay a guy who had 1 td last year. But he is young (25) and is projectable to develop into a better version of Hollins (who turns 32 in Sept). 1 Quote

What the eff are we even doing? What Beane is doing is being one of the best GMs in the league. That’s what the eff he’s doing. How many straight division titles, 2nd in the league in scoring. We exceeded expectations last year by a mile and people here still B word and moan. Of course someone like you doesn’t get what he’s doing. He knows his job, better than anyone here. Way better. Let him do his job. 2 2 1 Quote

Sweats Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago So, i'm actually okay with this signing. I looked at it yesterday when the news broke and was like UGH, but the more time i've actually watched his highlights a couple of things stand out that i'm digging...... * He's young * Has the ability to separate * Seems to know the route tree * Seems to know where to go in broken coverage and soft D's * Fairly reliable hands * Athletic Would he have been my first choice, probably not.......but if used properly, i think he could flourish in our system. 1 Quote

Only point I'll make is our "average defense" DID provide the offense with literally the best starting field position in football last year: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2024/#drives::9 Can the turnovers be repeated? Probably not, but it's worth remembering that the terrific year the offense had benefited, in part, from having the shortest field in football. 2 Quote
Pete Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago My #1 FA target signed by the Bills. We needed veteran X WR who could separate, run route tree, and take top of the defense. Palmer Samuel Shakir Coleman That’s a solid 4, especially if Keon can put it together. I would like to add one more WR with for first 3 picks. 1 Quote
CSBill Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Free agency is such a bust for the Bills, we should have signed Metcalf, Garrett, and Crosby--along with giving Josh another $50 million and Cook his $15 mill. What is Beane thinking? Quote
JohnNord Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I’m not getting the hate for this guy. Outside of Davante Adams (somewhat debatable), there wasn’t a clear cut WR1 available. I like Palmer better than a player like Darius Slayton who signed the same deal. No idea why people are comparing his Curtis Samuel before he took his first snap. 2 Quote
