Makes sense in theory. I will always advocate for guys who can separate so Josh can see them open as appose to throw them open which he isn’t great at.

Im sure Chargers fans would tell us he’s a tease and that’s probably true. Fingers crossed.

Edit: this takes the pressure off us having to reach in the draft. We should take a receiver anyway but don’t necessarily have to do so top 60 now if it isn’t there.

What’s his ceiling ?

very near his forty time.

and no he cant play DE nor DT.

Nor should we convert him to a TE or Safety

😋

I bet some pocket change and couch cushion dollars we end up liking him in Buffalo White and Blue

I don’t particularly follow the Chargers so this is more of a layman’s perspective but if Palmer is so good, why did Herbert spend the season throwing the ball to McConkey to the exclusion of the rest of the receivers on the team?  Why are Palmer’s stats so meh?

I only saw the Chargers this year in their 'money' games (Ravens MNF, both Chiefs games, Texans playoffs). My impression was that Ladd (a Dog) McConkey was the only WR they had that was worth a damn and that they missed Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.

Anyways, good luck & welcome Josh Palmer.

hope you are right …looks like he is going to have an important job next season…they are going to lean on him to make some plays

Yeah, Palmer had the chance to step up and replace Allen and Williams. They needed it. But only McConkey rose to the occasion.

Josh is a much better QB and Harbaugh didn't throw it a ton, but still not a great sign.

Oh, and Palmer runs a 4.52.  Beane really hates speed at WR

Maybe not a sexy pickup but looks like the right fit.  If he can beat man coverage like they say he can its a big win since that seemed to be missing.

I like this pickup because the D needs the real help imo.  DK cost a 2nd round pick and 30 million a year.  So, they can use the 18 million and the 2nd to get the help the D needs.  The offense scored the 2nd most points in the league and in theory this guy can provide the needed help on game day.

10th out of  160 WR's in route win rate

That’s a big stat and especially with a guy like Josh tossing him the rock.  He’s also young & not broken down.

I’ll be rooting for Josh Palmer but this feels a bit like an overpay for someone that doesn’t solve the problem we seemingly have run into every year in the playoffs.  Our WRs can’t get open and even our elite ones shrink against tough man coverage.  While his win rate looks great it doesn’t seem to show up on the statline and it’s not like Herbert is an awful QB.

It feels like even with this signing when October rolls around we’ll be wondering what WR is on the trading block to fix our problems.

Absolutely.

Lets see how quickly he and Josh sync up. Better be quicker than Josh and Samuel or even Cooper

Just looking at his game logs and snap counts from each season.  Even though he was injured for much of his 2023 season he was pretty dam good in the games he did play and against some pretty decent competition.  Last year his snaps and targets were all down.  He had virtually the same amount of targets (and catches) over 10 games in 2023 as he did in 16 games in 2024.

Modern training has inflated 40 numbers to where people think great numbers are bad lol

A 4.50 is fast.. it's peaking at 20 miles an hour... There's plenty of guys running for 4.38s that suck

Be get me wrong.. is a guy running a 4.42 fast? Yea... So is a 4.5 and 4.39

We're talking tenths of a second..  if you are a good route runner with 4.5 speed and you're tough... You're probably going to be a good wide receiver because that's plenty fast enough

I don't know what being from Ontario Canada has to do with anything though

I don't care if he's from Zimbabwe or Pakistan

Grew up playing in crud weather.

I think his 2023 potential is why some teams were seriously looking at him.

As for 2024 it's obvious that he is not in their plans after the HC/OC change.

He’s getting paid about the same Aav as Gabe.  Is he an upgrade over Gabe?
