....people either Herbert sucks big time or there's a pretty scary trend here. And if he's so amazing separating, why doesn't this reflect in his production?  I think DK got paid 8-10M more than he's worth and Palmer's getting about 6M more than he's worth.  These signings are crazy.

This is simply a ridiculous signing that has no upside to it at all

 

We could draft a Josh Palmer in this draft and pay him much less

 

He could potentially get a few more TD's and a few hundred more yards being in this offense, but that's not worth the contract he got

- I think it is fine.

- He is a player of the right type at a position of need. 

- He was probably the baseline acceptable level of upgrade at that spot.

- He is faster than his combine 40.

- He doesn't have an issue with separation.

- He probably has a career year with Josh.

- But he isn't gonna emerge as a #1 receiver. 

 

I think the best case scenario is somewhere around 2019 John Brown. He was the Bills #1 by default but we all knew (well most of us did) he wasn't a true #1 receiver. And from memory Brown went just over 1,000. And that would open things up in the middle of the field for Shakir and the tight ends. That is best case scenario.

 

Worst case if he stays healthy he is that 500-700 yard guy he has been in LA. And he makes the odd big play but defenses still focus on stopping the Bills inside to out and make them try and win with Palmer which doesn't hold up over a season.

I gen expect the Bills to do nothing at WR.  Would like a couple of the WR in the draft but that likely means pick 30 or trade up in Rd. 2.

Competent NFL WR, but not special. He looks to be in the same mold as Coleman and obviously he’s going to primarily play X. So he’s the guy Keon is going to have to beat out if he wants to get reps. It’s up to him to take a step (or more) forward.

We will focus here, but major hole at S is a reach.  Rapp and Bishop right now will start.

I think Bills will go BPA at either WR, DE, DT, CB or Safety.

 

Unless there is a big time substantive move via trade/FA at one of these positions.

 

The FA signing for Palmer I don't believe precludes that from happening.

They’re you’re two outside guys with Shakir as your slot. Bills need outside speed guy and that’ll make them fully versatile

If it makes you feel better, I can see someone like Tai Felton and Arian Smith getting drafted by the Bills.  
 

I disagree that Palmer lacks upside.  I think he can be a 900 yards player in our offense.

my memory of his injury history did not match up with the facts. I guess I've just kind of assumed all Chargers WRs have injury problems because it's always felt that way
