Kellen Moore bounced around until he landed on a jack pot of a loaded team. He was unimpressive in Dallas. He may have developed into a great coordinator.  But I can’t give a journeyman OC that much credit with hurts , saquan , aj , and Devonta and the best OL in football

Disagree. I think he was decent in Dallas.

Well it's something. It is a legit outside receiver with some speed. But he only had 500 odd yards on a team crying out for outside receivers in 2024. It's a baseline improvement. But it doesn't do much for the ceiling of this offense IMO.

I think it does move the needle on our offense as a whole though.  He is a legit outside WR as you said, and he is a downfield threat who gets open.  Its going to help guys like Shakir, Keon, our TE's, etc by bringing that dimension to the offense.

I don't expect Palmer to become a legit star here, but that is one of the beauties of this offense, we don't need him to be.  We needed a legit guy on the outside that was a threat downfield, and we got someone who does that.

What I hope is that this means we will also draft someone as well still and there are some guys I really like in rounds 2-4 that I think would be exciting prospects to include in our mix.

But he runs a 4.52!!!

those people are making me ill.  I’m glad I was at work all morning so I got to miss the first 14 pages

Maybe they will start a petition to have Jerry Rice removed from the Hall Of Fame?  😊

He had better separation than Nico Collins and puka nacua so...

Yea forget the 4.52. I have no idea what happened there he is a mid 4.4s guy to the eye. He doesn't have an issue separating.

So now we have Samuel, Palmer and Coleman fighting for snaps on the outside  with one not clearly better than the other

Make it make sense to me

You probably won't notice if one of them get hurt?

That's all I got right now.

I do agree with logic in his post above that there was opportunity with the chargers and palmer didn't take advantage of it. Paying these free agents seems like a waste of money, we really need to do a better job of drafting middle/late round wr's who can contribute. We should not need to drop fa money into the wr group.

I am happy with this move.  There was not a big FA WR crop this year, and of what was available he ticks the boxes.  And I did not think a guy like Metcalf was worth as much as some did; would rather have our draft picks.

Absolutely

I just think he's a perfect fit and is banking on potential,  which is sky high. I'm telling yall, don't be surprised to see this guy eclipse 1k and be a true #1

I don’t want to read the nonsense likely going on in this thread, but I’d like your take on the signing.  Mind giving me you cliff notes?  I wanted Slayton but Cooper was my #2 guy

WR1

I can't really express how happy I am with this move

This is the steal of FA

Palmer could turn into a true , elite WR1. Everytime i watch LA play he sticks out, just had a mediocre QB who had an awful OL. Watch,  there's obviously no guarantees but he definitely has those characteristics to be an elite outside guy and at 25 is just approaching his prime

Respectfully...

Josh Palmer has been in the NFL for four years, playing with a good quarterback.

He has averaged 571 yards and 2.5 TDs per season.

WR1? Steal of FA?

Seems like QUITE the projection.

My biggest concern here is injury history. Palmer has missed a lot of games in his short career.

Is 10 games is 4 years really all that much?  He's played in 85% of games.  Only one year he missed more than 2 games.

Don't expect Josh Palmer to be a star with the Bills, he won't be.  The expectations for him is to serve as an effective pressure valve when teams decide to play man to man and when they blitz.  He's a guy that Allen could turn to quickly under duress and have Palmer beat his man in those situations.  Think third downs!

He's not most likely going to be a 1k yard WR, he will probably be around the 700 yards and 5 TD range.   It's a Moneyball approach where Palmer fits a need in certain situations.

Yr 1....4 tds

Yr 2....3 tds

Yr 3.....2 tds

Yr 4......1 td

....people either Herbert sucks big time or there's a pretty scary trend here. And if he's so amazing separating, why doesn't this reflect in his production?  I think DK got paid 8-10M more than he's worth and Palmer's getting about 6M more than he's worth.  These signings are crazy.

I guess we can scratch WRs from our early draft board.

I think that is right if they retain either Mack or Amari. At the moment their depth chart reads:

Palmer

Coleman

Shakir (slot)

Samuel

The PS kid who had the catch and run touchdown from Mitch (name escapes me).

I expect them to add one more either vet or draft pick. Probably out for round 1 though I'd say.

This signing tells me a lot about how the Bills view the depth of the group of receivers in the draft this year.  With defensive players likely being targets with early picks, they don't see a WR contributor late on day two or early on day three.  I know people are concerned about Palmer's 40 time.  I'm more interested in his top end speed.  I have not seen that number available anywhere.  The fact that he separates on deeper routes suggests that he has a good top end.  Many good deep threat wide receivers are long striders with a high top end speed.  I hope this is the case with Palmer.
