gonzo1105 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Yes I mean I’m not paying Khalil Mack 18 million at this stage in his career. If these are the prices expect some discount bin Bills shopping this offseason 5 Quote
Virgil Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Damn, I was hoping for him to play here for at least one year of his career. But for 18 mil? No thank you 1 3 1 Quote
MiltonWaddams Posted March 10 Posted March 10 (edited) The Chargers had the money, and had the player in the building. The Bills have/had neither. It sucks that the list of available defensive ends keeps getting shorter in a year where there is a need, but overpaying will not be this front offices game this off-season. Charles Romes Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Yeah the pricing for this season’s early FA period is crazy. I’d almost be happy if Beane signs no one today at these prices. Quote

Then don't expect much in terms of improvement. Expect bargain bin shopping and more of the same. 1 1 Quote
BuffaloBillyG Posted March 10 Posted March 10 This is gonna be a year of stupid high FA contracts even by free agency standards. Beane isn't gonna have it. Get ready for second and third wave FAs that may fit a role at a much more reasonable price. 18M for Mack at this stage is ludicrous. 1 3 Quote

No reason we can't get at least one of them. 1 1 Quote

Yes. And the last few years Safety has been a position that has seen lower than expected contract numbers by and large. I'm hopeful that's where we are looking in FA. Then DL in the draft. And try and swing a trade for a WR. 1 1 Quote
Alphadawg7 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I didn't love the idea of bringing in Mack at his age, but at the right price I would have been fine. At $18M though...nah I am good. Quote
Dan Darragh Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I mean, it's one thing to sign Khalil Mack, but we signed REID FERGUSON! I already bought my tickets for LX 1 Quote
brianthomas Posted March 10 Posted March 10 everyone saying how this is an overpay, it is a bit of one since its a 1 year deal. But we'll be paying Rousseau more down the road. Who would you rather have, Mack or Rousseau? Mack is 1 year removed from his 17 sack season. Chargers obviously are hoping Mack returns to more of that player than last years, where he was plagued with a groin injury the middle of the season. Idk what Mack has left in the tank at this stage of his career. But he's at least been an impact player thruout his career. Rousseau seems more of the middling type that are more common. That might be too harsh, we'll all say how Greg helps set the edge, but on a team that cant stop the run no less. I guess i fall into the camp of being less than enthused about running it back with these guys. Sure Beane can still do something, but i can only believe that when i see it. 1 1 Quote
FireChans Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Man the FA market is getting thin. are teams wising up to the cap going up every year? 1 Quote

In lieu of big spending on an FA, I hope the draft for pass rushers provides us a gem, that's about the only option left. 1 Quote

I'm starting to feel Beane is focusing on the draft to fortify our defensive needs, and this makes me sad. 1 Quote

I know, it is saddening. This season may end up being the mini-rebuild that was supposed to happen last season. That would suck. Quote
DapperCam Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Was Khalil Mack worth $18m last season? Probably yes, he had a good season. Will he be worth it this season after seeming like he was probably retiring? I wouldn’t bet on it. 1 Quote
gjv Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Don't look now, but the price of PSL's and Season Tickets are going up. Quote
GunnerBill Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I've never been a big Mack guy. Good player. A bit overrated. No interest at that price at this stage of his career. Quote
