Seems that overthecap has contract details:

I find OTC much less understandable than Sportrac esp on my phone, but if they are correct data his cap hit this year is $41M. That is shockingly high since it was $44M or so before. I need to see it on Sportrac to believe it and fully comprehend it :)

That is hard to believe.

If true, Beane needs to restructure a bunch of players to get under the cap.

If I’m not mistaken, we can convert whatever his base salary is this year into a signing bonus?

Only if Beane wants to.  Now that he failed miserably to land Metcalf what's the point of life anymore?

There isn’t really anything to do for 2025.

Next year they can convert his $16M salary to bonus and save about $13M

are they able to convert the $15,641,281 to a bonus this year?

Or did they for some reason make his base salary extremely low this year with no conversion and only 3 mil in cap space created?

the way Sal and others were talking they thought we’d be saving 15-20 million this year on the cap

There are all sorts of prorated types of payment and I don’t believe any of it can be restructured  any further.  Just the Base pay

so then we opted to only get 3 million in space from his new contract? Seems odd. Maybe this is what they are thinking

https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2025/3/13/24384386/how-the-buffalo-bills-can-create-the-salary-cap-space-to-make-additional-moves

Dion Dawkins (LT): Approximate cap savings $9.8 million (per OTC)

Matt Milano (LB): Approximate cap savings $5.5 million (per OTC)

Dawson Knox (TE): Approximate cap savings $6.2 million (per OTC)

DaQuan Jones (DT): Approximate cap savings $4.8 million (per OTC)

A.J. Epenesa (DE): Approximate cap savings $3.5 million (per OTC)

Taron Johnson (CB): Approximate cap savings $3.2 million (per OTC)

Curtis Samuel (WR): Approximate cap savings $3.8 million (per OTC)

Connor McGovern (C): Approximate cap savings $3.9 million (per OTC)

Tyler Bass (K): Approximate cap savings $1.6 million (per OTC)

Spencer Brown (RT): Approximate cap savings $1.6 million (per OTC)

Dion and Knox would make the most restructure sense creating 15 million

I don’t think they will be spending too much more, possibly on a cb, a few other minor signings and the draft.

Dawkins I would imagine is a strong possibility.

Reduction in pay to Knox

and maybe cutting Daquan if they get another DT

It's funny when Josh has this long press conference about "doing whatever he can to help the cap" and its 3 million savings.  Like get out of here with that nonsense.  You wanted the top guaranteed money ever for a QB, don't talk to me about "helping the team".  Just be honest.

Seems like the offseason is pretty much done with.  Going to have to nail the draft picks (scary thought with Beane).

This is interesting. Looks like we didn't really free up any cap space this year with the new deal.

I'm surprised they didn't suppress the first few years on the cap more than this.  I suppose they can convert some of the base salaries as we go along, but there's only one void year, so I think the flexibility is fairly limited and we'll largely be eating these cap hits?

Josh has done a real solid for the team by not pushing for like a 65m average (what a legend!) but it looks very different to the aggressive Hurts structure, for example: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/47648/jalen-hurts

Josh's contract is interesting.  I have never seen a QB contract quite like it before.

I was thinking they were getting big cap relief this year, but they seem to be setting this up for a later

extension which will carry all the dead cap when Josh is no longer playing.

It's like the cap hits are "pay as you go".  Set up for Josh vs the Cap % to stay low.  Probably a good idea.

We must have decided the extensions, especially Rousseau's and Oliver 10 mil space clearing was enough for now.  We still have Dion at 9+ and Knox at 6. Then a bunch of others between 3-4 each.   So if we are close to the cap, easy to free up another 20 mil

Which makes sense. They are likely close to done with FA. Need a veteran CB but otherwise we have the draft picks to fill the remaining holes.

Agree that Beane has plenty of moves this year.

Spotrac has $10M over the cap but a lot of contracts still need to get on the books.

When the dust settles, Dion's and another player or 2 will need to restructure to get under.
