I'm frustrated because it seems like we're passing on elite talent for above average.   We might as well be called the Buffalo Josh Allens.   He's pretty much the entire team.  Lots of offseason left though.

Agreed.  That doesn’t mean trading for DK was the move, but game changing moves (at least public ones) are all but gone.

Kansas City hit on Rice and probably hit on Worthy.  We’ll see how Rice comes back from injury and how Worthy is in year two but they’ve had prime Kelce for a long time up until recently… and recently their offense has been bad (except against us in the postseason)

They also have their Chris Jones.

Allen has had Diggs, who was a shell of himself last year here and never came up clutch in the playoffs.

We know we need elite level dudes outside JA and maybe our O-Tackles, every year, yet it never happens.  Not via FA, trade or the Draft.

Let’s see what happens tomorrow and moving forward, but I’m thinking it’s more of the same… just with more money to spend than we’re used to.

Feels like this means they are going to roll with Russ again, and cut ties on fields.

Actually they've said rather go with Fields. Some mumbles may pursue Rodgers or Cousins too.

they just don't prioritize playmakers on offense

come to think of it, on the defense, too.

They prefer the 100 chicken sized horses versus the one horse-sized chicken approach

A single 2025 second man. Woof.

That's the crazy part of all of this.

I don't think it was the draft capital. We could have easily thrown in one of our 4ths or 5ths or a couple this year to sweeten the pit.

I think this was the extension money. $33m AAV???? I'm sure Beane knew that's what it would take and was out. I really don't blame him.

DK might have also wanted to reunite with Russ and might've gotten assurances

Whelp there you go. The cold weather excuse is gone. We didn't make this trade because Beane didn't want to. And if our outside WRs struggle as badly as they did last year, this will be the latest example of him failing to add to the room. I really hope he has some kind of plan.

Good point. He def should have tried to add an outside WR last year. Someone with very consistent production and pro bowl appearances. I would have even given up a 3rd round pick for him.

And bonus points if his last name rhymes with Pooper.

I think Beane goes for it every year.  Again, we were in the AFC championship game last year.  He spent first round capital for a wide receiver and traded for a big name (who did not help) at the deadline.  Btw, Cooper was coming off a much better season than DK.  You mention the Chiefs...what big name did the sign early on that opened their championship window?  The Rams are one of the few stories (in 50 years of fandom) where I've seen that tactic actually work.  And the Eagles got Saquon.  Great move.  He didn't cost 30 million and a 2nd round draft pick.  DK is a very good player.  I don't think a great player.  And I don't believe he's the difference between the Bills and a title, especially considering that they'd have no money (and one less draft pick) to fix the defense.

Guess you forgot the AJ brown trade as well

shocker

Heard on TV - The Steelers are interested in Sam Darnold as their new QB.  The pairing of Metcalf and Darnold could give them a very potent offense, something that's not been very characteristic of Steelers teams in recent years.

A 2nd and a 5 year $150M contract is pretty steep (even with the money being spread out).

It wasn’t the draft compensation, as others have said, but rather the money.

i would have been stoked to have DK here because he seems like a perfect fit.  However, a 2-3 year deal for his age and style of play was what I thought was fair as opposed to a 5 year deal.  After 2-3 years, we could have still gotten out and have been able to make other important moves that we’ll surely need in the later days of Allen’s “window”

I think the extra 2 years are a great risk no matter how structured.  IMHO a 5 year deal at that price is very risky based on DK’s style of play.  As many have already said, a bodied physical WR’s window for success starts to close fast and that would likely be in the 3rd or 4th year of the 5 year contract.

To be clear, I was VERY excited at the prospect of having DK in a Bills uniform but the risk of such a lengthy deal makes me nervous.  I’m sure there were probably a lot of other teams who

were very interested and I’d love to find out how many others offered up a 5 year deal.  Might be why this was resolved so quickly.

That said, I congratulate DK for getting the best deal he possibly could.  Just wish it could have worked out for us.

Cold weather/asthma not so concerning I fear

now that we know the compensation, totally ridiculous we did not trade a 2nd for him.

You can see what you want. The Bills are in an arms race they refuse to participate in.  A top 5 regular season defense (if 2025 achieves that) is fools gold in the playoffs.

And prior to the Cooper trade, it got their QB concussed, an injured hand, and 0-2 against Baltimore and Houston in Weeks 4 and 5.

Well said, also cost them the 1 seed.  The lack of an elite weapon for JA is neasuating, esp. since Bean and McD are publicly down on Coleman.

Two awesome Wrs and no QB to throw it to them. Awesome plan

He has to be coming, or makes no sense.

Justin Fields is not the guy, but is a back up likely now and forever.  Could change with some great coaching, but getting late in the game.

Darnold is likely the one, maybe the only decent possibility right now.  So he may sign soon.

An awesome QB and no legitimate #1 WR to throw to.  Awesome plan.

That offense scored 30 points a game.  The offense isn’t the issue.  The defense is the issue (this is a recording).

Beane better be getting Hendrickson because there is no reason we couldn’t do this deal

A bonafide #1 WR in his prime
