Who did the Eagles swing on other than SaQuon? The vast majority of the Eagles success has come the same way the Bills are going now. Drafting and then extending. AJ Brown they traded for but that was 3 years ago, and they got him cheap.

But they drafted & extended:

Hurts

Lane Johnson

Jordan Mailata

Goedert

DeVonte Smith

Landon Dickerson

Jalen Carter

Jordan Davis

Quinyon Mitchell

Cooper DeJean

They got midlevel/cheap contracts from CGJ, Zach Baun, and James Bradberry.  They traded fpr Darius Slay in 2020 and have paid him under 15M APY.

The Bills aren't very good at drafting though and obviously won't have many high end picks as long as Josh Allen stays healthy

It's $30M AAV, exactly what was reported. Nothing about the trade compensation or the money is shocking. This was the known asking price. Rousseau plus Bernard's AAV more than makes up for it. Beane chose the two solid players over the one great player. That decision is emblematic of his strategy in general and it hasn't gotten us over the hump.

No, what hasn’t gotten us over the hump is our defenses. Every single metric, statistic, and fact proves that.

I’ll go ahead and say it… Pickens?

realistically, I think kupp or cooper end up our guy on the carousel… depending on what was behind the scenes last year

Pickens' attitude bothers me. I dont think he puts in the effort on every down and may pout if not given the targets. Loads of talent though.

The Bills are excellent at drafting. Just looking at the roster and their success tells you that

Yeah, it's disappointing but expected.

Um they traded a first round pick for AJ Brown.

A 2nd round pick is just 1 round higher than we spent on the Cooper rental.

did Cooper cost 30 mill per year over the next 5 years?

Golly, the same guys who've been identifying the players, schemes, and coordinators(s) which go into building the game-plans just aren't getting it done the past 5 seasons with a franchise QB.  Let's give them more dollars and picks and keep seeing if it'll finally work.

But the offense...hey, they averaged 30 in the regular season.

New WRs are fun. I get it. It's like Christmas day when your team gets one. In fact, WRs are the most fun players in the NFL. Even more fun than QBs. I want a new one too. I live in Cincinnati, so I know how great Ja'marr Chase is and how fun that would be to have on my favorite team. I think everyone in Cincinnati has at least one Chase #1 jersey. I wanted DK too. I can rationalize why he didn't do it, but I think Beane made a mistake here. But it didn't happen. So, onward and upward. There is nothing that I can do about it but hope that they have a plan. They know that what they rolled into last season with wasn't enough. Otherwise they wouldn't have spent a third on Cooper. So, they know they need more and I expect them to get it. Because contrary to popular belief on TBD, Brandon Beane is neither developmentally delayed nor an evil genius working to make your life miserable. He wants to win. Out owner is spending the money to win and we currently have the cap space to get some dudes. Lets see what he does.

In-season trades are always bad value. That's why I hate them.
