Land a decent CB (Asante Samuel Jr still available?) and I’ll feel fine going into the draft: can you get 3-4 starter-level rotation defenders in the draft? I think so.

Beane heavily banking on young player development

I think he’s mostly done…but that is one place he could matter IMO

Not so much. He doesn't have the agility and the movement to get to places Jackson can get him. Jackson needs a Stevie Johnson type so bad.

Ryan Stonehouse from the Titans might be a good add for the Bills at punter… if anyone cares

His net in relation to his gross not good. He might have a good leg but horrible hang time and/or bad at directional punts. I'd use one of our extra 5ths to take a chance on Eddie Czaplicki.

Only problem with this guy is he has a missed-tackle rate of like 24% and that is opposite of what McDermott looks for in DBs. I really think we were in for some of the other guys who signed elsewhere and we're going to be signing some 30+ stopgap and draft a CB early, which is not what I wanted us to do.

How many drafted players really make a meaningful impact in their 1st yr?

Very few, for all the talk after watching Philly show how to beat the Chiefs the Bills have done no adding to the defensive line as of yet other than cutting Miller.  It is only day 2 of the tampering window, but there isnt alot out there.

Bargain Basement Beane at those positions.

He can't be.  Look KC, Philly have a top paid QB AND clear studs on Defense.  We gotta get someone who is an impact on the DL.

Ok,we upgraded WR, got Ty back, so the offense is fine for now.

We have to focus on Defense now.  Who all is left at DE,DT and CB that can help us?

Plenty of rotational guys at DT/DE.  I expect a couple 1 yr deals.

Really wanted a couple corners, but they're gone.

At this point, I'd rather just hit the draft for defense with our 1st 3 picks.  We can find starter material at 1 tech DT in the 1st or 2nd, same at corner.  I expect a rotational end in the 2nd too- pair with Groot, Aje, Hoecht, and a likely signing.

We need 2 out of this draft, and One of the two from last year to step up AND a trade or FA signing.

We can't keep failing in the playoffs because of defense.

I still think A. Samuel is in play at CB.

With his history, do you trust Beane to find them in the draft?  Man ai really want to,but...

I am strongly against Asante, but I'm not scouting guys full time like Beane and staff.

Just think Asante is too undersized, injury prone.  He'd be a nice upgrade in coverage though.  Just think we could find a more reliable option in the draft, if we target someone early.

I feel like they will get a corner and then pack it in

Here they give you that actually be cool with that. But we got to nail down at least one defensive position with a solid starter before free agency is over.

We can do both. The one place where I trust Beane and McDermott is with Cornerbacks.

I believe it’s absolutely realistic to expect to bring in at least 3 rotational guys who will play significant snaps,

#30: CB (100% of snaps)

#56: DE (40% of snaps)

#62: DT (30-40% of snaps)

Past this you can grab a safety who can play rotationally. I don’t expect and game wreckers unless we get lucky on taking a guy who high upside. Most likely outcome is 3 guys who can be significant factors in year one.
