Clearly you’re very good at burying your head in the sand!

You just stated that Daboll couldn't get anything outta D. Jones, basically stating that Josh was as bad as him I'm his early years. No one on planet earth could make Jones half of what Josh is.

Horrible take! Pathetic really!

yea that's fair!

I think in general the cream of the Bills FA list was probably Sweat & Ward and maybe even Asante Samuel Jr,  and it probably didn't stretch much further past that. Palmer wasn't a traditional Tier I FA, and they've got him on a pretty modest contract.

If I'm Beane, the last big swing I'd be looking at is Grady Jarrett to sub package with Ed Oliver in passing downs

Grady Jarrett signed with the Bears almost immediately after it was announced he was released.

Asante Samuel Jr. though is something i'm keeping an eye out for.

You can go back and see the history here with this regime. They will draft major question marks early and make there 3,4, and 5th round picks starters, while the early rounders will be benched, with hopes that they develop.

They signed him last year, but their letting players go too.

This is the Jaguars we're talking about also.

Im not saying he’d be available but I’d place a call on Tyree Wilson. Don’t think the Raiders give him up but just giving Maxx a huge deal and signing Koonce to a one year deal.

Might be worth at least making a call

There are different degrees of development. I wasn’t suggesting he should have made Allen into Jones.

Brian Daboll willingly hitched his wagon to Daniel Jones by signing off on a fat extension and it was a disaster after that.

Handing out the richest contract to a Safety (which Holland surely will be) - a year removed from signing Rapp to a 3 year deal and Drafting Bishop with a 2nd Round Pick doesn't really add up.

I suppose you could walk away from Rapp. But you don't spend a 2nd (really high for the position) on a Safety and then have him be a backup for two seasons. And from the sounds of what Beane and McDermott have said - I don't think that's in the plans.

Rapp made some plays last year. I like him. Biggest question mark with him will be his size and durability.

You are the one who doesn't want average players. So maybe Beane is trying to acquire big fish, and if he fails (which is likely, there are not many available around), he just keeps some cap space to try again before trade deadline.

There was one big fish player at a position of need that we could have had, but I've had my say on that subject. Adams was somewhat of a big fish but he wanted to go to California so nothing we could do. Garrett and Crosby and Higgins weren't on the table. Hendrickson is the last big fish and I'll be surprised if Cincy sends him here.

So yeah we are in kind of no man's land now. We spent last season taking our medicine so that we could afford more high end talent starting this season, but that talent just isn't available. I guess saving cap space for a hypothetical mid-season trade is one option. I can't imagine that's what Beane was planning on though. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a surprise trade.

How do you know that? Who's to say that the GM didn't strongly suggest that they sign him?

People forget that Daboll took that team to the second round of the playoffs with him in his first year. The year before that, they were horrible.

Daboll had a lot to do with Josh's development in Buffalo. Josh has said so himself. Mcdermott chased away so many decent coaches on this team. Daboll and Chad Hall are 2 right off the bat.

My dream FA is still a possibility:

Spend on secondary!!!!!  Hit DL via draft early and often.

Jevon Holland and Byron Murphy Jr.  Both going to cost a boatload.  Benford needs his bag, but if I'm pouring $$$ anywhere right now it's in the secondary.

Before anyone goes screaming about Rapp or Bishop, Rapp is only a $3.3m cap hit and saves us $2m to cut (which i wouldn't do).

Let Rapp and Bishop battle it out, both are similar type players.  Low cost vet and an early draft pick from LY.
