Guys, just relax about Bobby Brown. It really was his prerogative to go to the panthers.

Ahhh, I understand you now.

Brown goes to the Panthers, which means next year he will be a Bill! 🎆

With Benford taking 2 concussions in a weeks span and having to be carted off the field after the 2nd - I wonder if there isn't concern over how he bounces back from that? I'd have assumed he would have been done by now. If they're leery of giving him a long term contract extension for whatever reason, combined with the fact that we have a gaping hole on the other side - i'd expect to see something more than a journeyman starter brought in.

Well, f-ck.

He was going to get a ton. He was the top available Free Agent CB (after DJ Reed) and CB's aren't cheap. You aren't getting a deal on a stud starting Corner.

McDermott and Beane both said Benford is okay and cleared protocol after his 2nd. They haven’t signed him because he’s really good and his contract is going to be massive. That’s a hard negotiation I’m sure because their Bills do try to get slightly under market value for their extensions and maybe Benford isn’t budging yet

I’m in the trade market if I’m the Bills. They have $ to spend and nowhere to spend it. The window is wide open. I’d be looking to average to bad teams, with new leadership. Give them picks in exchange for veterans that don’t fit their timelines. What would it take to get Travon Walker from the Jags for example?

Or Josh Allen

are their people freaking out?

honestly I haven't noticed anyone doing that.  Just the usual number 1 wr mumbo jumbo but other than that it seems pretty calm here.

Yeah I guess "freaking out" hits differently here. I guess more whining and acting like sad puppies.

Where do any of those outside of Josh fall with regards to anywheres close to being elite? We can thank Daboll for that as well.

Bernard had a good first year starting,  year 2 he fell hard.

Cook, who i do like and all, but his numbers don't say elite to me, but that's for another topic. He imo is shinning for that big contract. His numbers before last year were pedestrian.

Benford- let's not forget who we drafted in the first round that year! Where is that guys development?

Shakir- i love the guy, but 2nd option, most likely 3rd wr is where he falls on most other teams that aren't picking in the top 10 of the draft.

You blanket statement said we don’t develop players well… when did elite become the standard? Find me a team that’s churning out elite players year after year, most can’t even develop depth.

You’re thanking Daboll? I’ll dig up my post on who should get credit for than. He gets some, but I can assure you he’s not the main stakeholder. Check out his work with Daniel Jones.

I can’t even imagine the meltdown here if we pay him what his true value is, and then he goes all Tua on us. A QB can try to hide, a CB not so much.

Hopefully it was a fluke thing, but I have to consider it before pulling up the Brinks truck.

His long-term health comes first.

A lot of big money being thrown around out there for average to above average players.  I kind of figured it would be on the quiet side for us today for that reason.  Not only that, many of the top guys I had targeted in FA re-signed with their teams before they got here.  It is what it is.  That said, it was never about FA for me.  To me, this is the year to be wheelin' and dealin' with draft picks to fill needs.

Yes, a lot of the big name guys that were out there to be traded for are off the trade market now, but if I'm Beane, I've called every team about WR, DT, DE, and CB.  I know who can be had for what price and that is where my focus is.  It's time to fill some important holes with proven talent and let some of these draft picks go.  The time is now to win......not 5 years from now.  So, get a WR1.  Get a run stuffing DT.  Get a pass rusher.  Get a corner.  We need all these things and I want to use the draft picks we have this year and next year to get as many proven guys in these spots as possible.

This wasn't the free agency I envisioned 😅. Still hoping beane has a big move up his sleeve. We need help defensively and not a whole lot happening

Not a whole lot out there.

Daniel Jones and Josh Allen should never ever ever be mentioned in the same conversation buddy!

I'm gonna hang up now and not listen!

With Dobbs going to New England, Bills should inquire about Joe Milton. Would be a great backup to Josh IMO

The Bills management isn't interested in a young, inexperienced backup.  Mitch is the 2025 backup, like it or not.

I don't get why NE signed a veteran backup. They have a great opportunity to develop Milton & trade him after 3 seasons.

Not worth paying 15M when you aleady have Cole Bishop entering year 2

an unknown still in my humble opinion.

Not a knock on him

But you asked what was out there , and it was a fast paced day :) Slim pickings. Either pricey or wanting deals that Bills don't need to do

Handing out the richest contract to a Safety (which Holland surely will be) - a year removed from signing Rapp to a 3 year deal and Drafting Bishop with a 2nd Round Pick doesn't really add up.

I suppose you could walk away from Rapp. But you don't spend a 2nd (really high for the position) on a Safety and then have him be a backup for two seasons. And from the sounds of what Beane and McDermott have said - I don't think that's in the plans.

Well you look at the remaining FA list and it's not exactly exciting. I keep getting told we need to save all our money to rebuild the defense, but who are we spending that money on? Unless we trade for Hendrickson there's no big needle movers coming this year, just some baseline improvements across the board.

You are the one who doesn't want average players. So maybe Beane is trying to acquire big fish, and if he fails (which is likely, there are not many available around), he just keeps some cap space to try again before trade deadline.

Wouldn't it be great ho have some cap space midseason when some really good players on some really bad teams could be available?

yea that's fair!

I think in general the cream of the Bills FA list was probably Sweat & Ward and maybe even Asante Samuel Jr,  and it probably didn't stretch much further past that. Palmer wasn't a traditional Tier I FA, and they've got him on a pretty modest contract.

If I'm Beane, the last big swing I'd be looking at is Grady Jarrett to sub package with Ed Oliver in passing downs

They just signed him I think. Walker obviously fits their timeline but are they paying them both??

They signed him last year, but their letting players go too.

This is the Jaguars we're talking about also.
