I look at it like the talent is there and it would be up to our coaches and players to get him to perform. I think he and Russ weren't on the same page last year and Pickens had issues with the offense. Is he more like Diggs than not? Probably, but IMO we need guys with talent like Pickens to win playoff games. It's up to our culture to handle personality issues.

I can agree with that if it were the Colts or Raiders or someone like that, but Mike Tomlin has a pretty decorated history of managing absolute head cases better than any coach in the league.  Usually he can at least keep the lid on when they are in Pitt, then the wheels fall off in the next location.  With Pickens the wheels are already off

Some DL I’m hoping we target

Jonathan Allen - major upgrade. Can dominate at 1T or 3T

Josh Sweat - ascending player at 27. Havoc in the Super Bowl

Calais Campbell - metrics show he is still fantastic despite age.  Has a great relationship with our new D asst & Rousseau’s mentor. Price should be reasonable. Bills have previously been interested. Can line up anywhere on DL really

Bobby Brown III  -  huge interior player, only 24

Draft Kenneth Grant

Looks like Grok doesn’t include processing and hustle in it’s algorithm .

if we sign Young, I won’t be made.  I’ll find a way to get scored about possible upside….but meh. I’m not a fan of his play anymore

Hard pass on Chase Young.  I'm not against the Reddick idea depending on price.  A reasonable price on Reddick might allow us to double dip in FA on DL.

I would be down with Reddick as a hired gun to get sacks as he certainly has something to prove....depending on the price. Young I would do on a vet minimum type deal to see if there is anything there. I don't think Sweat is happening.

Hendrickson is probably my favorite possible move at this position, but it seems unlikely to make a trade with the Bengals.

Buy low on a guy like Matt Judon? Maybe.

A young guy who was overdrafted and is a bust Payton Turner played for Nielsen in New Orleans, but hasn't had an impact. Maybe there is something there as a depth guy who needs a change of scenery. He has the typical length and size this regime typically likes.

The Payton Turner situation is why fans have a much more negative estimation of their favorite team’s drafting in relation to other teams. When other teams have an Elam-level bust, we just forget they exist while your own team’s bust festers like a wound.

That is the same group that drafted that bust Zach Baun in the first. They also drafted Hendrickson.

Yep. He was a massive reach as a guy who really didn't put up sack production in college. Elam was the same idea...they drafted measurables and potential and a lot times that busts. Same with Groot, measurables not production, but it happened to work out. (I always add the kernel, that with Groot that there are many stories that they were going to draft Eric Stokes there, who has also been a bust.)

And it happens with everyone around the league for sure. including the Chiefs and the Eagles, two teams widely considered to be the best draters.

My problem with the Elam selection is that this regime backed themselves into absolutely having to take a corner, and got jumped for an excellent one by our hated rivals. Plus they took a man corner who struggled in zone and was a bad tackler for their scheme which requires zone acumen and tackling ability. And they traded up for him, picks that turned out to be Tyler Linderbaum and Jordan Stout. Just a God-awful process all around. Not to mention three all pros when right after they picked. But you are 100% right that teams miss on guys all the time.

Hopefully they can plug holes in FA and truly draft BPA this year.

I love Matt Judon.  I don't know how much tread is left.  Hendrickson is my favorite too.  I'm with you on Sweat.  He's the best FA of the bunch, but I don't know if he's worth the cost (particularly with two of our own guys, Cook and Benford, still to be paid).

This would probably be Rodgers best landing spot IMO. They have Pickens, now DK. A solid defense. And Tomlin knows how to handle head case players. As long as they convince Aaron he's not coming in to be the quasi GM and doesn't have a large say in roster moves it could work out well.

The Bills front office is the same group that found Bernard in the 3rd, Shakir in the 5th and Benford in the 6th. Fans see the hits by other teams and fixate on the misses by their own team.

Yep. I’m simply suggesting that both of those other guys busted out once they got away from the Saints (although Hendrickson was okay there). Perhaps a change of scenery for Turner makes him, at least, a quality rotational player?

I love how Rapaport editorialises at the end of his tweets like he’s an analyst.

My point was more about fan psychology. From a football standpoint, giving other teams busts a low-level contract and a camp invite is good practice.

The front office is great at picking up high value players lower down the draft. They do not have a great record of picking up big hitters from the first two rounds.
