Not as exciting and not as long, but this is where the Bills offer a 1 year deal to Mack and a 1 year with an opt-out/mutual option for 2 years to Bosa.

If he plays out this contract, there's a very high likelihood that Garrett doesn't win another playoff game again (he's only won one, and that was five years ago).  I'm not even confident that the Browns will make the playoffs between now and 2030 given how badly that team has been managed.

it was never about winning.

Cleveland now has their DE signed for 4 more years, and still have Watson on the books for two more years.

Buffalo signed their own DE for 4 more years, and have Josh under contract for two more years.

The Browns are paying $390,000,000 with 280,000,000 fully guaranteed for Watson and Garrett.

The Bills are paying $338,000,000 with $150,000,000 fully guaranteed for Josh and Groot.

As good as Garrett is, I'll take Josh and Groot all day for $52 million less ($130 million less guaranteed) than having Garrett/Watson.

People think Beane overpays for talent...at least we aren't Cleveland. Stinks to not have a shot at Garrett, but it would have been tough to manage his salary at the rate Cleveland paid him. Would love to see the FO pull Hendrickson now at a reasonable contract (I mean it will be a big number of course, but reasonable compared to Garrett and Crosby). Over the last 5 years, Hendrickson only has 1.5 sacks fewer than Garrett. Garrett is still the better player (more overall tackles and pressures), but Hendrickson would be a very nice consolation prize.

I wouldn't have supported  a contract like that at all for any DE. The Browns spending $76M on two players just to be one of the worst teams in the league is bananas.

This guy doesn’t care about winning I guess and just the bag

Screw him

Agreed... All that talk and then this... He literally said multiple times it was not about the money... I don't blame anyone for taking that kind of bank, but after all that talk, and just about a week ago coming out and saying he would not accept any extension... It's just one big eyeroll for me...

But whatever... On we we go... B-)

Haslam just has to get more outrageously stupid with every deal to get players to play for him. What idiotic thing is next??? 😂

In feel for Browns fans. They don’t deserve this.

Sometimes an Owner's stubbornness and ego get in the way of team management. This is one of those cases.

As an alternative to MG how about KC killer Josh Sweat?

I'm thinking fool's gold. 8 sacks last year. 3 yrs. older than Groot? 43 sacks over 7 years?  What would we pay? Pass

He's the Tremaine of this year's FA. Probably go to the Bears.

I don’t get paying this much to a defensive player. Not worth it. Just have to draft better. Lot of great pass rushers aren’t high picks (TJ watt, Hendrickson).

Haslam just cannot help himself, apparently. Browns fans should go on strike.

Yea I thought Garrett genuinely wanted out. Never believed it on Crosby and sceptical on DK but I actually thought Garrett was sick of losing. Seems not.

Yeah honestly a bit disappointing whether he would have ended up here or not unless he just couldn't get out this is pretty much the opposite of trying to win while still in your prime. I mean sure things can change quickly in the NFL but with the contractual anchors the Browns have and the complete lack of a QB, it's hard to see that team doing much of anything in the near future.

It’s not so much a “bargain” as the “reason” that they did it. Once they knew Garrett and Hendrickson were dead, they shifted to Rousseau and cheaper options.

They could have both players it's definitely possible, Groot got extended because he's our best DE on the team right now and only 24, at that price it was a great deal.

Here's the thing.  I totally get why Garrett would sign this deal.  It's huge money....generational wealth.  And what does he have to sacrifice to get it?  Knowing he will never win a Super Bowl in his career.  Heck.....he probably won't see the Playoffs for the rest of his career.  But, $120+ million guaranteed or a shot at a ring?  That's his choice and we could all dream of being in a position to make that decision for ourselves.  The thing is, he was going to get paid by the team that traded for him anyway.  Maybe not quite this contract, but close enough.  But, whatever.....I get why he would sign that deal.

On the other hand, what are the Browns doing as an organization?  They are in serious trouble and I am not sure I see a way out of it for them for at least another 5+ years.  They sign these ridiculous deals with all guaranteed money and they are absolutely stuck.  They continue to take the worst contract in NFL history and make it worse by kicking more money down the road only to sign more guys to huge contracts that, in the end, won't mean a thing because they are absolutely nowhere at the most important position in sports, the QB.  They should have absolutely be champing at the bit to get a haul for Garrett, clear out some real cap space, and get some futures that will help them move around in the draft this year and next year to find their QB of the future and get younger and some more skilled guys to be ready for when that rookie comes in to try and set him up for success.  Instead, they basically tie their own arms behind their backs.  Just a moronic organization that has no clue what they are doing and they are just out of touch with reality.

I mean I kind of get that, get as much as you can while you can, but at the same time it's not like he would have been way under this if he'd gone somewhere else, you know just with the chance to actually compete for something.

How do you know?  Sounds more likely that the the Browns were just not going to trade him…

not sure it’s a deep draft at pass rusher. Edge, sure, but most seem to be the edge setting type.  That said, some FA’s left who would mix well with draft picks. Mack, Koonce, Sweat (my guess is Phl keeps him), and get a high upside guy like Ivey in the 2nd or get a few in the later rounds. Diggs may be a good grt from Cuse later as a pass rushing specialist.

Watched the combine in person.  There are several guys you can see getting to the QB in the NFL on a consistent basis.
