I just laughed.  In the end it's usually about the money.  Lol.

How many more examples do we need? DHop, JJ Watt, pretty much everyone who has ever said they want to go somewhere to win ends up taking the most money offered.

Saved now from fans demanding Beane to make the trade.  Deep draft on pass rushers so relax.

I agree.  A ploy to get more money to lose.

not sure it’s a deep draft at pass rusher. Edge, sure, but most seem to be the edge setting type.  That said, some FA’s left who would mix well with draft picks. Mack, Koonce, Sweat (my guess is Phl keeps him), and get a high upside guy like Ivey in the 2nd or get a few in the later rounds. Diggs may be a good grt from Cuse later as a pass rushing specialist.

I have no problem with a player like Garrett taking the contract but it makes him look like a hypocrite when he asked for trade and said it’s about winning a Super Bowl and not about money.  He ain’t winning ***** in Cleveland over the next few season.

It’s ALL about the money.  He looks like a huge hypocrite

I'd pry have played it exactly the same way Garrett did.  I can't blame them.

I’m not shocked he didn’t leave but I think this is a bad football move for the Browns.

They will trade him 2-3 years from now for a pittance. The playbook for these dudes is obvious. Get the money now and figure out an exit strategy after.

No.  Don't worry.  Watson will come back late in this year and turn into his 2020 self leading the Browns to the Super Bowl.

Old man!!?? 👴

I kinda thought it was just a ploy by the Seahawks to have him look for a trade. Always had hope it was for real.”. Now that Geno and Lockett are gone?  Feel DK does want to leave.  Couple all that with the fact the ‘Hawks supposedly reduced the ask from first and third to a second?  All signs point to a departure.

Yeah DK feels more likely to move than Garrett ever did.

still a fair shot he gets paid and sticks around.

Bigger worry for us should be DK doesn’t want to play in the cold because of his asthma and Hendrickson now costs 30M per year, at minimum, on extension with Garrett and Crosby’s deals.   He won’t get paid like them, but like Saquon’s deal and Cook, they will be referenced.

DK seemed fine in the Seattle cold.  Bettis played at ND and Pittsburgh with asthma.  Perhaps DK has it worse?

Always a shot he stays. Who knows. Money trumps winning a lot in this league.

But wait! I thought the Browns couldn’t afford to do this because of Watson right?

what a joke. The cap is just a traffic cone you can drive around

No.  They shouldn't have because of Watson.  They just pushed out his cap hit (now $54M and will be even more next year) into 2027

when he will no longer be on the team, and they will be FORCED to take the cap hit.

The cap hit will not "disappear".

“I want to win” code switches real quick when a team pays you 35-40M per year as a pass rusher.

it would for me

The Browns are so awful I thought Garrett might actually want out…it made sense.  Metcalf on the other hand I think is just looking for the biggest pay day.

I flipped that from the get go.

Browns are run so awful I knew they would cave with a huge contract.

I do think DK wants the big payday, but I think he knows he's not getting it in Seattle and frankly I don't think he likes the way the new staff uses him. I'm betting he's a Charger at some point soon.
