How many more examples do we need? DHop, JJ Watt, pretty much everyone who has ever said they want to go somewhere to win ends up taking the most money offered.

The Garrett situation is a bit different.  Watt and Hopkins said “I want to win a Super Bowl and my team isn’t serious about winning.”  They actually left for OTHER teams.

Garrett said the same thing about winning SB’s, also specified that it wasn’t about money for him and said he took his time making the decision, only to re-sign for money!

It was probably a wise business decision for Garrett but a bad one for his legacy and also one that makes him look like a hypocrite.

Oh well, when the Browns are in the basement of the AFC, at least Garrett can roll around in money pile

Just like any other job. LMAO at all the people mad at him because "I thought he wanted to win a Super Bowl!"

It’s true 90% of the time.

The difference is that Garrett has already earned over $120M in his NFL career.  You’d think a veteran like Garrett might trade a couple millions if it meant winning a Lombardi

Hendrickson? Sweat? Mack?

Hendrickson is the only difference maker but he won’t get the contract he wants at 36.

He doesn't even have to play hard anymore, just coast all season and not have to worry about the playoffs.

Very true - from a health perspective, he will save a lot of wear and tear.

what if a winning team wasn't going to trade for him? He's not an UFA. Or maybe Browns told him they aren't trading him

Will all also say, it's not about the money.....Let's face it, we ain't gonna be able to do it this year.  Hendrickson is now out of range, Sweat's 8 sacks will get overpaid,

and Mack is 34. Spare me the flashback.  Another week from now, we may not be able to afford Reddick or maybe even Oljuari.  Screw it, spend the FA money on the back end. Draft 2 DTs, 2DEs and play em.

It's technically different but it would have taken a leap of faith to think the Cardinals or Titans would be a contender.

But...but...I want to play for a winner! Joke. Let him finish his career there mired in mediocrity.

IMO, Garrett was always a pipe dream. If we didn’t get him, I’m glad no other contender did as well.

After the dust settles, I’m hoping and praying, we hit in the draft with impactful players!

But wait! I thought the Browns couldn’t afford to do this because of Watson right?

what a joke. The cap is just a traffic cone you can drive around

It's not that they couldnt do it.

It's that they would be dumb to do it.

But the Browns are gonna do Browns things

Maybe Beane thinking better to take the chance on a guy like Bosa for whatever his market is AND still have the draft picks, rather than cough up a late 2nd for Hendrickson and need to pay him his asking price.  We then have a solid veteran in Bosa plus the chance to hit on a draft pick.

Cleveland said multiple times that they were not going to trade him. His options were to holdout, which would guarantee him nothing, or sign a gigantic contract, which guaranteed him $120 MM. Not a tough choice.

After Crosby signed I was thinking I don't want Garrett anymore, not at 35+ million a year, which now appears to be 40.

In free agency the Bills could maybe get 3/4 of the following for that kind of money: a high quality CB, end, D tackle, and wide receiver.

Way too much money for a player who will be 30 years old next season.

Seattle is clearing out its offense, and Metcalf may be the only game changer out there.  Beane should get that done now, and forget what about I say in my second line. Or do that and get the top of the line free agents for those positions wherever possible.
