Another Fan Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Something of a complement to that other thread. I went to Katonah Pizza yesterday in the Woodlawn Heights part of the Bronx. I was there years ago and remember it being real good. Went there yesterday and it did not disappoint at all. To me it had the all makings: Thin curst Generous size portions Oily but not like real oily or greasy Served at just the right temperature. Warm but doesn't burn my mouth And how it digests in my stomach at my age plays a big part as well. I have a sensitive stomach. The fact it didn't turn me into a gas/fart machine minutes later tells me it was real good. A modest place but that place is the real deal. 1 Quote
qwksilver Posted March 9 Posted March 9 (edited) Blasdell pizza was always my favorite. Bella is quite good as well. I make sure to get a pie every time I go home. Edited March 9 by qwksilver Quote

Draconator Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Pizza Florian in East Aurora is owned by the same guy who owned Jay's Artisan Pizza in Amherst. Amazing pizza's. If you want a pizza to bring home and eat while watching TV, Pizza Del Auero's also in East Aurora is also amazing. Really good pizza. Quote
Augie Posted March 9 Posted March 9 (edited) Naming my favorite place is super easy, but naming second place would be much harder. The best hands down was at InRome Cooking class on our last night in Rome. We made everything from scratch and it was the best pizza and gelato of my life. I have a pic of my wife with a whole pie in front of her, then another showing her taking the last bite. It was so light and airy it didn’t fill you up and they used toppings like prosciutto you don’t usually see on pizzas in the US. https://www.inromecooking.com/tour/cooking-classes/pizza-making-class-gelato-shared/ On 3/9/2025 at 1:34 PM, ExiledInIllinois said: Just had Lou Malnati's deep dish last night. davefan66 Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Papa’s Pizza Oven. Several locations, go to the Lake Ave location. Papa’s Pizza is excellent. Order it with the sweet sauce, cooked well. By far the best. 2nd? Fat Man’s in Tonawanda. Great pizza also. 3rd. Franco’s because it’s good and consistent. Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted March 9 Posted March 9 On this same topic, does anyone watch the Barstool Sports pizza reviews, and go to his top spots? I have been toying with checking out a few local joints that he rated very highly. Quote
The Jokeman Posted March 9 Posted March 9 (edited) I grew up in Kenmore and we always had Francos (the original location we went to is now where Curry's is if anyone else remembers) and to this day I still adore it. I also like Bocce, La Hacienda on Hertel (Bob and Johns), Picasso's and Imperial. 2 hours ago, Miyagi-Do Karate said: On this same topic, does anyone watch the Barstool Sports pizza reviews, and go to his top spots? SinceThe70s Posted March 10 Posted March 10 No place in particular but New York City pizza is my favorite. Sadly, there are no great pizza places in my town. Quote

That’s a potential problem with multi location local restaurants, they don’t always have the ability or time to make sure the food is the same across the board. Quality can suffer when stretched. Sweats Posted March 10 Posted March 10 We used to have a place round these parts called "Nicks Pizzeria".........best pizza in town, bar none and it wasn't even close, however, to keep putting out high quality pizzas, Nick had to increase his prices somewhat and then everyone just kind of went to the 2nd best pizza guy in town and Nick closed down. It was a real shame. We used to have another pizza joint round town called "Mothers Pizza". They closed down years ago from some bad finances and shady "wise guy" dealings, but to this day, that place is my barometer for pizza joints. Quote
