The guy was everything we were hoping for prior to the injury.  But man.....that injury at his age is just tough to come back from.

That said, this had to be done going into tomorrow.  But I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him return after the dust settles and we see what cap space we have.  I do think he genuinely enjoys playing here and would take less to do so.  He took a cut last year and I wouldn't be shocked to see him do it again.  But, if it is it for him, it's been a heck of a career.

I think this was the right move.

Not that Von had a bad year in 2024 and I get the case to bring him back on a lower cap #- But just try something different at DE at this point IMO

This HAD to happen,  even with the cap hit. Personally I would move on totally. But if he's willing to agree to a one year deal, around the vet min I'd consider it.

I can see this is the Bills telling Von to test the open market after Miller wouldn't take a cut.

Here's hoping it means that have someone already lined up for a replacement

Doubtful.  With a FA that makes sense, let the guy see if he can get what he thinks he's worth compared to what we're offering.  Either way no money loss to the team.

In Millers case, the Bills just took a cap hit so very little incentive now to sign him.  It was worthwhile for the Bills to have seen if they could have got him to agree to a pay cut down to around $8 mil as that would have reduced the cap hit, but still gave them a player who did have 6 sacks last season.

I'm not convinced he doesnt come back on a majorly reduced contract.

I think this is the Bills doing the HoF vet a favor and releasing him early to see if he can get more money somewhere else. And then if not, come on back at $5M.

Just a few posts above somebody wants him back for $3M….do we get a choice? 😁

They had a renegotiated contract on the table for him to sign, but he went too wide around the table, got far behind it, then just put his hands on his hips. Farewell.

Maybe on a real cheap contract if he finds no other teams want him, but could have seen the Bills  would have paid him more than he's probably worth as it still would have been a better deal to them than releasing him.

Great get until the injury. Vet minimum and GM internship if he wants to come back.

Good idea.  Why not ask him to intern with scouts and the front office?  Might as well start now.

That injury was devastating…the dude was carrying the whole dline his first few games he got here and they fell off a cliff when he was out.  He had a pretty good year last year but wasn’t worth the contract even after restructuring it

You all must have seen a different Von Miller than I  did. Not sure he even played up to the vet minimum salary.

Good news for AJE.

He's not safe imo. He's been underwhelming so far and could conceivably be cut or packaged in a trade, hopefully.

I look at him like Hamlin. Quality depth, but not starting caliber. Sure, they can start for the Panthers and Patriots of the league, but they're not the starters you want on a championship caliber roster.

JMHO....

You could make the argument that playing Thanksgiving Day games on crappy dome turf may have cost us Super Bowls in 2021 and/or 2022.
