Nephilim17 Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Hmmm. I like the best of his tenure but not completely thrilled either. Maybe he needs a better D line to play his best. I hope we find out this season. 10 1 1 2 2 2 Quote
AlCowlingsTaxiService Posted March 7 Posted March 7 I like him, and I’m ok with the terms, but I’m not yet convinced that he’ll hold up as a smaller man in a bigger mans position. They desperately need a DL that can keep these smaller guys clean. I don’t want to see TB, MM, or any other LB consistently having to take on OGs running free 6 6 1 Quote
Bleeding Bills Blue Posted March 7 Posted March 7 My thoughts are - the team defense as a whole performs considerably better with him on the field, and beyond that performed better than the sum of its parts. 3 4 1 Quote
Ralonzo Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Don't love this price. Wasn't a difference maker last year. Cook at that number I can live with, there's only so many dollars. But I guess in McDefense, even linebackers need a red-shirt year before he'll play them so whatever. I'd like to see the exit points from this contract, if the team can bail in 2 years without a major cap hit. 4 2 1 2 1 4 Quote

Buffalo Junction Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Okay…. Now Beane needs to upgrade the D line to keep him clean. 8 4 Quote
SCBills Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Hopefully the plan is to put a much better DL in front of him that allows him to thrive in space. Something he didn’t have last year, and it showed. 8 8 Quote
DapperCam Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Always look at the guaranteed money for the actual deal. $25m isn’t crazy at all, we’ll need to see the details to really judge. 5 Quote
Magox Posted March 7 Posted March 7 (edited) I would say that was valued pretty close to about right. I thought he was more in the $8 - $9M range, not too far off what I was thinking. He is the play caller on the defensive side of the ball and he has a knack for making plays via FF, recoveries etc. That's a position that is now locked up for the next four years. Bangarang Posted March 7 Posted March 7 If he can consistently be more of the player he was in 2023 then it's a tremendous deal. 7 3 1 1 Quote
colin Posted March 7 Posted March 7 if they are extending him, benford, and groot, and especially if they bring in a heavy hitter on DL, they need to get cheaper all over the spot w rookies for depth and some starters. CB, S, DT, as well as maybe an OG/C (edwards will be an upgrade target, torrence will be expensive to extend in 2 years) WR, and maybe RB, and back up qb. aside from just not having an outside wr, our weakest spots are clearly secondary followed by DL. we need to add at least one difference maker there. as far as this specific contract -- 2024 bernard was OK, 2023 bernard was an actual monster, filled up the stat sheet as well as any bills LB i've seen. if he's more like 23 and less like 24 it's a good signing, if he gets hurt too much it's another albatross. time will tell. 4 Quote

I fully expect that the Bills will extend Groot, Benford and even Cook. With the recent deals, there is an urgency to get them locked up 2 Quote
todd Posted March 7 Posted March 7 25 mil guaranteed for a very good (and sometimes great) starting LB is a fantastic thing. So many people not liking this is confounding. Who else of the same caliber could you get at that price for 4 years? hint: nobody. 5 3 2 Quote
ChronicAndKnuckles Posted March 7 Posted March 7 The current TBD whipping boy. People complaining about his size. All he does is make huge plays at clutch moments. One of the only true elite players on this team. Thank God he is finally locked up. 9 2 1 3 Quote
